liftgate/hatch support struts

all these trucks have plastic bushings in the top brackets that support the strut. well like most, if not all, those bushings wear away to nothing leaving the clevis pin to float around and eventually wear the round holes oblong. i went to toyota today and asked for replacement bushings. to my surprise, they are not sold, rather come together with the strut and mount brackets and sold as an assembly at $205 ea! :jaw drop: has anyone replaced these with something compatible? brass/bronze bushing/sleeve perhaps?

Go to a junkyard and pay less than $20 for another pair.

Or order from an online retailer such as Camelback for much less $$$.

Some members have had luck with aftermarket ones from Armstrong, etc.

Mine lifts are shot also. Just looked at Rock Auto and saw them for $20 apiece. Don't know if they come with the sleeve.

May want to take some measurements of the clevis pin and check a hardware retailer like McMaster Carr to see if you could piece something together.

struts are fine. the plastic bushings are shot and they are not sold separately. all the salvaged trucks i've looked at are all the same; worn out/broken.

Monroe makes struts for the hatch. You're most likely not going to find the bushings you need, unless you happen to come across them at a specialty seller. I believe the Monroes are on Amazon for $20 a pair, or close to that. That may be your best option if you're that concerned about it.
