Light switches, the Knee Panel, and Illumination

So I'm going to put in 3 OTRATTW switches today in the little 3 switch holder, but I'm wondering:
1. How do you get the drivers knee panel off to cut the hole? I really don't want to cut it with it still on the truck

and

2. What wires are you tapping into for the dash light / dimmer pin on the back of the switches so that they only light up when the interior lights or on (also, do they actually dim with the interior light slider ?!?!)

I also have a write up in my build thread on how to install and wire the switches (again see my signature). I spliced into the "RSCA Off" switch in order to have my OTRATTW light up with the rest of the cluster.

One other thing, anyone with the Contura V switches, is flipped up the on position? If so, that's kind of counterintuitive. Also, I connected to the green wire on the RSCA button for illumination but it doesn't dim with the button when adjusting interior brightness. In the OTRATTW instructions they mentioned tapping the ground into something that dims to get it to dim. Think this would work tapping the ground on the RSCA as well?

I might be wrong but I don't think they are actually supposed to dim. I thought wiring it the way you did was to either have the switch illuminated or not depending if the headlights or not. Hopefully someone will chime in with more knowledge as I have mine wired to always be illuminated when the truck is running.
