LIMITED OWNERS ONLY: Compustar/Viper iPhone Remote Start Systems???

I had InPhase in Omaha, NE put my Directed Smart start VSM200 in... I can operate the alarm off the factory remote with the 3 lock button clicks, or using my cell phone with their software (same as the viper and all that). It also has all the functional status updates, lock/unlock, GPS location, parking assist etc. Everything works as its supposed to, not sure which bypass they used or what trickery to make it work, but they had the install done in 3 hours (I work next door so it may have been faster). Havent had any issues since other than once in a while the Viper loses cellular connectivity, at which point I just hit lock 3 times and it works fine.

This is on a 2011 Limited. I didnt want any new remotes, any alarm sounds, and wanted the factory stuff honestly, but the range sucks and its nice being able to start my truck from anywhere when its snowing out and have my car nice and warm!

Does your remote start turn off when you open the doors?
When it has been remote started, can you unlock the door by touching the handle?
Can you find out which bypass was used?

Can you elaborate a little further on your setup? Does the smart key still work to unlock the door by touching the handle? Or if you remote start it with your cell do you need to unlock it with you cell also? Does the engine turn off when you open the door?

The Smart key still works like it does Pre-mod. (Door handle touch unlock)

You can Start, Lock, Unlock, and do the Hokey Pokey with the app, but you do not need to use the app exclusively. You can start, lock or unlock with the app and then use your remote at will. Inversely, you can use your remote to start the vehicle as long as it's within the normal remote range (three lock clicks and it will start). You can have them program it for different interval started lengths, but the longest is 20 minutes (unfortunately).

Yes, the engine will shut off when you open up the door. I hate this, but they all do that. It's a "safety" thing, supposedly. They won't configure it without that "feature".

Get the system, its great and they are still adding features. Make sure you go with a good shop though. If they hook it up incorrectly, you'll have all kinds of gremlins, and Toyota will throw up their hands and say "It's your problem, Kemosabe". If your in the Hampton Roads/Tidewater/Virginia Beach area at all, go to Tidewater Auto Electric. They did a fantastic job and they were very patient and knowledgeable with all my questions and concerns.

yes it does, all the research I did led to the computer doing that as long as you are using the factory style remote start system like I did.
When I remote start it, the rest of the factory functions are just like normal. I walk up and grab the door handle, it unlocks and shuts the truck off. Same goes for the pass door, rear door etc.
I will run down there if I get time and ask which bypass it was, Otherwise the contact is Jesse at Inphase. Its cold and snowing out, so cant say it will be at the top of my list right now, but maybe after work.

the only way your going to bypass the door open shut off is if you completely remove the oem system out of the equation whether you have the oem remote start or not.

thats why on the warden's tacoma we opted to not get the oem remote system and went 3rd party completely.

you can actually get into the vehicle and put the key in and it will still run on the remote start system. it wont pass off the run mode until you hit the brake to take it out of park.

i've gotten in the truck a few times and have forgotten to put the key in and hit the brake to move it out of park and say "wtf the engine died" then realize i forgot the key in the ignition and look over and the warden is laughing at me.
