Limited vs trail

They are on the side of the mirror. Kinda reflect off of the car next to you.

Ahhh ok, when he said IN the mirror I was thinking like some of the other makers do that actually reflect through the mirror, not on the side. I knew ours had them on the side (flash when locking/unlocking), but I did not know if the LE was upgraded to include the mirror itself too.

With the part time 4WD you can drive on mixed snow and dry pavement surfaces just fine. I wouldn't try any U turns without popping it back into 2WD, but you can defiantly drive down the road in 4WD.

You shouldn't drive on dry pavement surfaces with a part-time 4WD system in 4WD. That stresses to the driveline.

i will be purchasing a 4runner soon. I really like the LIMITED features but i love the TRAIL's body kit look.

What will i be missing out if i get the TRAIL instead of the LIMITED? i plan on getting the trail with navi.

Anyone have thoughts on the on-road handling of the LE vs. the TE with KDSS?
I am curious whether the KDSS improves on-road handling as well.

The sonar is only on the SR5, not the TE or LE, All have the Puddle Lamps, and I did not realize the LE had the indicators in the mirrors, did I miss that somewhere?

i can't speak from personal experience but everything i've heard is that the KDSS (on the Trail) offers a better ride than XREAS (on the Limited). ymmv, of course.

Newbie here. Just picked up my Trail in Mag Grey last night. Got a smokin deal via AAA in CA who put me in touch with one of their participating dealers. It was a great way to go no-haggle to get 500 over true invoice from the fleet manager who was professional and low key. The other dealers in LA that I spoke with were unethical and pressure filled.

Anyway Love the Trail...the KDSS does very well in normal traffic and the accelleration of the 6 cyl is fine. I didnt test drive a limited but I did test drive the Acura RDX, Infinity EX35 and Kia Sorrento "crossovers" and I find the Trail 4Runner to beat them all in normal traffic handling and steering too. It is more responsive and the crossovers just felt bland and non distinguished. The Trail seems to absorb normal bumps in the road much better than the crossovers...particularly the Acura which has a rough and harsh ride.

It will be interesting to see how that Limited looks with the plastic pieces installed. It looks like it would be a significant amount of work involved to install those pieces because you have to remove any Limited pieces first before you install those. In my experience with working on various cars, it can be a PITA to line up little plastic trim pieces and get them to fit properly. But anyway let us know how it comes out....are you going to get the Trail hood with the scoop on it too?

I bought the trail in shoreline blue. I also was on the edge on what to get. Trail or limited. I love the push button start and heated seats and some of the the other things on the limited, but I didn't want to get all that and not have the KDSS. If you look under both side by side, you can see a huge difference. The trail to me is a much better 4Runner. It is the way they are meant to be. If I wanted a luxury SUV I would have bought a Lexus. But go with what you like the best...

Or you can get the 28+ black plastic parts that make a Trail Ed. look different then the Limited and change them out. I just got in the last part for my Limited TE today. Time to go to work on it tomorrow!

Dude.....That's top secret info.......I can't tell anybody unless they are going to do the swap on a Blizzard Pearl with black leather.:naughty: Kinda wished I would have bought the Limited in Blizzrd Pearl with black leather when I saw one in that color for the first time. Maybe I'll buy one in BP next time when they bring the V8 back in a couple of years.

:jk: I don't know the cost but the Sales Manager said they got screwed and would never do that again.
I have all the part numbers and will document and organize them as I install them this weekend.
That's why I took that pic ,so I can number them to match up to a 10 digit Toyota part number that I document as I install it.That way you can take them to your parts dept.to see how much they cost.:cowboy:
I did have to pay $350 for a body shop to paint the bumper covers.

I'm new here and I didn't want to start a new thread since this one seemed to fit my question.
I'm on the verge of purchasing a T4R and need help deciding between a TE or LTD and was hoping you all could chime in. My main question is regarding the off road capabilities of a LTD vs a TE, I know the LTD doesn't come with the KDSS and was wondering how much of a difference this would be for off roading? I guess what I really want to know is what the max off road capabilities are for both? Any input would be appreciated and thanks in advance!

If as you stated you want max off roading you would want a trail with kdss and the rear locker. Also trail has better approach and departure angles.

The natural focus is on the mechanical 4X4 differences, but the biggest difference is the body clearances. The approach/departure angles were mentioned. In addition, there's much less clearance under the doors on the LE and removing the running boards doesn't completely fix that.

Toyota really differentiated the models from each other this time so unless you want to put the work into making an HE (Harper7 edition), you need to honestly figure out what you want in the truck and make a choice.

As previously stated, there are mechanical and body differences. Your choice would depend on the type of off-roading you plan to do but also on the features/options you absolutely want in your truck.

I have an LE and off-road often but haven't pushed it to hardcore terrain. I chose the LE for features/options that the TE didn't offer. That being said I modified my truck for some of the exterior features I gave up with not choosing the TE (i.e. trimmed rockers to install sliders, removed front plastic fascia from under the bumper and in front of the skid plates, etc).

Thanks, so I'm guessing the limited should be more than enoguh for moderate off roading while the trail w/ KDSS would be more for someone who wanted to go do some hardcore rock climbing? I just wanna be able to get around in with 1-2 ft of snow on the ground or moderately rough unpaved roads.
