Line-X Project Complete - Here it is!

I'm pretty much done with all the major stuff on my rig so now on to more detail oriented stuff. One thing I always wanted to do was Line-X the rocker panels - 2 reasons… I think it looks cool as hell and it offers some darned good trail protection, if it does get scratched, dented, or chewed up, my Line-X guy can make it look like new.

It turned out absolutely awesome, made the doors sound even more solid than before with all the sound deadening I put in em.

The truck is filthy in these pics, but you get the idea. I'll get here all cleaned up sometime soon and get some glamour shots done, maybe here at the beach???

***Also added some MORE light! Added alley lights (Rigid SR-Q2 Wide Beam, 3,030 lumens each) mounted on the front support of the gone rack, facing outward to the left and right of the truck, wired independently, and a Righd Dually D2 Diffused beam mounted to the passenger side of the bumper swing out to supplement the two Rigid 6" SR Flood lights mounted up on the rack.

I had the repair place line-x my rocker panels, mud flaps, and the fender liners last year after I was having my trail damage repaired. It looks awesome and protects the relatively soft plastic.

It is truly great stuff, I was amazed at the structural rigidity that it added to the plastic parts!

This opened up a whole can of worms….. Dallas (Line-X Dude) and I were sitting there checking it out and I came up with probably another half dozen things I eventually want to get sprayed. I am totally impressed with it.

Looks awesome on the sides! I'm not the biggest fan of the rear bumper, so that kind of affects my opinion, but the rockers definitely look sweet! I'm thinking of doing something like that on mine, but I'd probably end up putting Mossy Oak vinyl on it haha, which is why I'm holding back since I know how tacky it's gonna look.

I paid $150 per side and an extra $25 total for the UV inhibiting coating. The rear of the truck cost $400 because of the extra prep involved. I did the rear quarter panels as you can see, plus the top of the bumper where you step and the back of the hatch. $900 for just the front bumper and fender trim seems a little steep. You may be able to talk to your line x guy and see if you can save yourself some money by removing he pieces you want sprayed before hand and just dropping them off.

Thanks! Supposedly he spends a bit more time not the prep effort for the plastic parts and really gets it roughed up with some really coarse sand paper. Should hold up really well.

Looks great Shawn, it compliments the mag grey perfectly!

I wish we had those kind of prices around here, the local guys wanted ~400-500+ for two damn sliders, and that's me bringing them the bare sliders ready to spray

When we bought our Tundra in 2000 we had the bed Line-x'd before we even picked the truck up. Now 13 plus years later it looks like new and has held up very well. I've put a lot of stuff in that bed over the years with no complaints.

I think it's a great idea, especially if you do heavy offroading. Nothing cracks your teeth the sound of branches screeching against the paint. The Line-X coating will definitely help to reduce that.

[MENTION=74569]SOcalTRAIL[/MENTION] hasn't posted in... I don't even know how long. It holds up well over time. Just look at any truck bed that has Linex to see how it ages. There is a topcoat they can apply that keeps it from fading out but it gets more matte looking over time. I have the sides of my white 80 done with color matched Linex. I'd do black if I was to do it over but plan to one day do my entire runner in the color marched (dark grey with black accents). I just am waiting until I scratch the paint up more first. It does help stiffen up the soft panels a lot though.

I did this a while back - the colored line-x looks super cool. It's a lot of work to do a whole truck...when I was getting mine done an FJ was being completely done and they had that thing in pieces.
