Sounds like a simple install too
I dig it, but I wish there was a better place to mount it. All the way down there is way out of your field of vision, so that really limits its usefulness.
I've been thinking about locating one, too. I do have a Gentex mirror with homelink and a compass, but it doesn't have the temperature. Ideally, I'd like to have all three items, although the Homelink isn't a deal breaker.
Just a thought - since I've read that the Subaru field monitor is closely related to the one installed in JDM Hilux Surfs, has anyone tried comparing the size/shape of the display? Maybe you could combine them, which would put the Fahrenheit Subaru unit up high.

I could mount one of these under my single din in my 4th gen and it will be in plain sight of the driver.
any chance you might happen to have an extra one by the time you visit DFW early next week?
Certainly, I can bring a rear view mirror with compass/temp +the sensor for you.

Saw one going for $80 on the Forester forum. He sold it not too long ago.

Like COB said, check the classifieds on the Scoobie forums. When I had my Imprezza, I'd see two to three listed each month. Even having a Limited Runner, I'd like to install one if everything could be had for less than $100.

I saw this on CL few weeks ago. I emailed the seller and seller did not respond. He was asking $200. No one bought it. Seller later replied and said he will take $150. Finally $140 with free shipping.
I installed a rear view mirror with compass and temp 2 days ago. I really don't need this field monitor. Just bought it because I know this thing is a very hard to find and expensive. Let me think. Unit is on its way to me. If I still wanted to put it into my 4runner I'll keep it, if not I will inform you.

If you decide to keep the unit and get sell of the mirror, I would love it - all I really want is temperature and direction (compass)...though elevation would be sick - since I live in the Rockies. either way, for fairly inexpensive and simple...

What I meant was to sell the Forester unit, and not the mirror. I already pull wires to the mirror and fixed the button (wedge) to the windshield which is not easy to remove. If you want a mirror, I can find you for the same price I purchased$70). It is a complete unit with the sensor. Let me know. I am going to hunt a mirror for another 4runner member in the coming days.
