At fill up mine usually shows around 365, but after the dealer had the battery unhooked for some adjustments it showed 424 which I thought to be much more accurate. However it never showed that high again. The showing of 365 is to low IMO and I think I actually can go closer to 400 miles or more on a tank, I don't like running it that low so I'm not testing it out, my logic is the gauge shows a tad under a quarter tank left when it will read 40 miles left on the dash readout. When I fill it up at this point I put in about 18.5 gallons. Holds 23.5 gal right? I get an easy 20 mpg on the highway, sometimes more, so my fuzzy math tells me I could go a tad over 400 miles on a fill up.
I don't know why the readout didn't stay calibrated after the battery disconnect. Next time it gets disconnected for any thing I'll check it.

Apparently you dont know how to use comas either... I understand that he meant in that moment in time, but if you follow this forum at all you may have read one of the million threads about MPG. There have been several posts in which members have said that the system used to calculate mpg in the 4Runner gets confused and indicates the wrong mpg if its reset mid trip and not at a full tank refill at the gas station. If my understanding of this system is wrong I hope one of the many knowledgeable members on the forum can correct me.

If you reset the mpg indicator it will immediately begin calculating a new "average mpg" from the time you reset it. It will eventually get back to around where you were prior to reset.........unless of course you're on a 6% down grade, and then you can brag to your friends that you got 99mpg on the way home..

wonder why the trip meter shows different mileage - tank capacities @ fill up?.
my 05 sr5 v6 displays 327 miles @ fill up...some other forum memeber says his displays 368 miles @ fill up

Because it would depend on what kind of fuel economy you are getting prior to filling up. The DTE figure is based off the comouter's calculation of your fuel economy. So, if you're filling up after lots of highway diving (road trips), then surely you will see a larger DTE figure than after filling up after city driving/day-to-day driving.

It would also depend on how often you reset your fuel economy read-out. I reset mine after every fill-up.

Resetting the MPG has no effect on the range, in my experience.

Well mine constantly changes so it has to be off a rolling average of your most recent fuel economy. It can't be a large moving average because even if I fill up after doing all city driving, if I jump up on highway and drive 4 hours it will almost instantly increase until it hits a peak... then slowly drifts down. At my next fill-up my range figure will be significantly higher. I've seen range figures of under 500km (310miles) and well over 600km (372 miles). An 85L tank at a mediocre highway fuel economy of 13L/100km tells me I have 653km. If I can get down to 11L/100km I have 772km to empty. 12L/100km (19.6mpg) is more realistic so 708km (440mi) to empty in mostly flat highway, decent conditions, @ 120-130kph (75-80mph).

Anyway, mine changes frequently.
