Any special tips on install on how you made it fit?? Ive never heard of a 40mm foot rack fitting with the shark fin!
Ok so the 2.2 K9 rack has been installed with the 40mm feet. I removed the shark fin and already purchased a Camry xm antenna to just plug the hole. Paul with Equipt believed the existing fin would fit and asked me to try it and sure enough...it fits with the oem fin with plenty of room to spare. Let me know if anybody has any questions.

Anyone know what type of connector is on the back of the nav unit for the XM antenna? I want to add an aftermarket antenna hidden in the dash since I removed my sharkfin...
I'm being told that it needs to be cut and spliced since it is a proprietary Toyota connector. Let me know if you find out differently

This used to be true, but there are a couple of options now.
Depending on if you need a male or female toyota connector, you have the choice of either these guys:
XMM-TOY Sat. Radio Antenna Adapter Cable for Toyota and Lexus :: Antennas, Adapters and Boosters :: Car Stereos and components
or VAIS SFA12M

ZMatt, I checked my connector- I have the same three prong connector that yours appears to have (mine is a 2011 SR5) - but all three wires are connected- So which one is the XM antenna? I dont have satnav or anything like that, but I need my XM and E-Street Radio... so I am going to order the Camry antenna, but need to know which wire to connect - dont really want to go by trial and error, because there will be two errors, for sure!!!

Hi Simple- quick question regarding the connector - your older sharkfin looks exactly like mine, three pieces inside, and a three prong connector that connects under the headliner. So, how did you get the replacement to work? I am looking to get the XM working again, dont have SAT NAV or anything else - so that is the key piece for me. appreciate your input!

Mike, perhaps my questions should have been directed to you- your photo seems to show the exact same connector that my sharkfin has (three wires in a plastic piece that connects under the headliner and runs to the radio) The replacement Camry seems to have something completely different- how did you get the XM to work? or didnt you?

Sorry for delay guys been on the road & don't connect to the real world when I'm on the river ! Give me a minute . I got my vin went to dealer to get right part no. & ordered from ConcelliToy. for 190$ (rounded) it off ! Will run down part no# . And yes replacement is 3 plug ! Just drove straight from Portland to Vegas so I'm wiped out !:ranger::heh:

I have a 2018 OR and am wondering, has anyone pried the fin off without removing it from the roof? I want to do the chop for clearance and was checking.
And, why did Toyota do something this stupid. It sticks up at least an inch higher than my roof rack. Luckily my Yakima box has grooves and I can barely get it to miss. But, this makes the roof box about 6 inches farther over on the rack and harder to get stuff in it.

I believe the issue arose with the 2010-2013 model year- after a few years the Satellite radio antenna seems to die, and you can no longer receive Satellite radio. I ordered an original replacement (cost about $ 180.) and replaced it -- now the Satellite radio works again, and i can keep my sanity in traffic! Recently swapped out my shark fin xm antenna for the low profile, PN 86960-08011, and it fixed more than planned. Original reason for the swap was that I lost connectivity due to moisture penetrating the shark fin antenna. The direction in this thread were spot on. You will need to transfer the plastic plug to the new receiver/antenna but was simple. Prior to my antenna dying, I would lose reception due to trees, etc. With the new antenna, signal strength is greatly improved resulting in no loss of signal along with audio quality being increased. Definitely worth the 70$.

Did your original shark fin only have one antenna in it? Basically only one small coax cable coming out?
