LTD Stereo

Can someone clear up an issue with me please? I started a thread last week saying I am in the market for a 2010/11 LTD, however as my search goes on I have a question regarding the stereo system.
Does the Nav JBL stereo come standard with the 15 speaker set up OR is that an option too?
I have seen a 4 runner LTD in San Jose CA with the Nav, back up camera but it says it has an 8 speaker stereo.

Help please

Yes, well atleast '11 & '12.. I just bought a '12 so I am very familiar with the options available for the '11 & '12.

Thanks I guess the dealership in Cali, inputed the info incorrectly. It has the JBL Nav system so I guess it does have 15 speakers. Now I can get my brother to go check it out.
As an afterthought, where are the speakers located?

Just so we are clear, mine does have the Entune touch screen nav with back up camera, but it isn't JBL and only has 8 speakers. The JBL nav system was a $1200 option. I didn't think it was worth it for a 2012. The only real difference are more speakers.

Let's get a few things straight since there still seems to be some confusion on what comes in the 2012's and 2011's. I blame lack of training on Toyota staff to distinguish the two models.

2012 Toyota 4Runner's LTD come standard w/ Display Audio with Navigation and Entune and 8 speakers.

2012's have the OPTION of Navigation AND JBL 15 speakers w/ subwoofer. That is an option.

What is not clear on the sticker is that the NAV plus JBL 15 speakers option DOES NOT INCLUDE Entune. This is the biggest source of confusion for everyone since we have members here reporting that the Limited sticker says Display Audio with Entune, then on the right side where it lists options, it says NAV and JBL Speakers.

Here is the coding that should appear on the right side.

CODE:
"ET" Display Audio with Navigation and Entune (SR5 and Trail Edition)
**This is standard on Limiteds

"NV" Voice Activated Touch Screen Navigation with integrated backup camera, JBL 4 disc CD Changer, 15 speakers including subwoofer, XM Radio, etc...
Please note that this option does not include HD Radio. Only the Entune versions have HD Radio.

So to answer the OP, the sticker is correct. It comes with Display Audio with Entune AND only 8 speakers.

If you want the JBL 15 speakers, you want the one coded NV Voice activated touch screen with Navigation and JBL 15 speakers. That is an OPTION for the Limiteds.

If you want Entune, then you get 8 speakers. If you want better sound, go for the JBL 15 speakers ;) After comparing both, that's what I did. (Plus, my iPhone4 has better apps than Entune anyways so I found it useless, especially since I can bluetooth stream everything from my Iphone 4). And yes, I was THAT obnoxious buyer in the dealer parking lot who was cranking out the music in the two different 4Runners.

Well said. If I was buying a '11 I would have sprung for the JBL Nav since Entune wasn't available. Since the Entune was standard in the '12 Limited, I decided I could put in a better system than the JBL with that $1200.

Yes, Entune came standard with my '12 Limited.

Anyway you can put up some pics of your dash and steering wheel.
I ask to see how different it is than mine, in case I could find out at a junk yard and replace mine.

How do you like it btw? likes/dislikes

Cheers!

Yeah, I will try to remember to snap a picture next time I take a drive.

I like it a lot.
  • Backup camera is handy
  • Bluetooth works great with Iphone 4s
  • Pandora is cool
  • Nav map looks good (haven't tested actual navigation yet)
  • Interface is easy to navigate
  • XM sounds good
  • Haven't used the Traffic, Stocks or other Apps yet. Doubt I ever will.

Here is a picture of the Entune, sorry for the poor quality (iphone/low light)...

The picture reminded me to add that HD Radio is included in Entune but NOT included on the Nav w/ JBL 15 speaker option. That's about my only beef with not having the Entune set-up.

Seriously Toyota, how much more could it have been to include HD radio?

Yeah, this is the first time i have ever had HD Radio. It really sounds good! It's too bad that I listen to Satellite 90% of the time.

Looks pretty sweet 4Run4YourLife.. Really hating my self for not waiting a few more months and just getting a new one.

Considered even trading mine in just for these stupid options.

Additionally, so many people here said that the navigation interface is the same as 2010/2011 when in fact it looks different and more refined.

How is it finding places by name? Ok? Good? or poor?
