Great work. I had the S/C on my 2011 Tacoma and it was night and day difference. Enjoy it.

The S/C puts this over the GX460 for HP and torque. Was looking at getting one of those to tow a small trailer with it. This mod for the T4R makes a compelling argument against that purchase.

Again, great work and enjoy it!

does this mean 2010-2018 4runner in california are left out. Carb is pretty strict

recent had to get a carb sticker for my 2002 t4r SC and it was a pain. dealer was less than helpful.

No, California 4Runners will not be left out. They fit CARB criteria, will be undergoing testing, and should be available in California March if not sooner. [emoji469][emoji869]

Added another video of the Magnuson Supercharger install with a small 0-60 clip at the end for interested parties. I will use a gps camera for a more formal 0-60 when it is dryer in a couple of days. Check out the install vid:

Thoughts so far:
1) Complete resolution of the times I was most disappointed in my 4Runner’s power (towing, uphills, passing)
2) Gas mileage has not changed with conservative driving
3) It is not noisy at all with idling and casual driving.

Looking forward to the write up. I’ve reached out to my local installer and will hopefully have this mod complete by end of February if what they were told by Magnuson is accurate.

There is really no major impact on trans temps.

I'm suppose to get an update calibration soon that will match the released kit. Then I can do more testing, but I have seen no change in trans temps, but I don't tow anything heavy...

In my experience towing a small Offroad trailer up and down paved and dirt roads the trans becomes very hot.

QQ... You said you tow with your truck. Now with the added torque on the tranny do you plan on installing tranny cooler? Or you may have already since you said you tow...

This year we are planning on getting a small trailer for the wife and I. Nothing crazy. Dry weight will be under 4K. I was debating on getting the S/C for the T4R, or a GX460...or the Tundra. Pricing on the Tundra limited would put me at or maybe below a new T4R with the blower. With my OCD...I can't get a full sized truck in the garage and not sure I could deal with parking it outside all the time. The GX has the v8...but never really saw myself in an lexus. Nice truck... just not sure I'm old enough yet :)

Congrats on the blower. I should have never sold my 2011 Tacoma with my S/C.

edit: Looks like others asked similar questions on tranny. Should have refreshed my browser before posting... I will say my tranny on WOT with the S/C on the 4.0 Tacoma would hesitate during shifts. I installed the IPT valve body to correct the sluggish shifts. A by product of that caused shifts to be a little abrupt during daily driving. Before the IPT mod, I would very rarely WOT through shifts.

That wont change much with the SC. The key to the trans temps is the toque converter being unlocked. If it stays locked the temps will be much lower and this greatly depends on how you shift and the throttle position.

The SC may help a tad with that, but it also may raise temps in unlocked conditions with more power. Hard to say until you try it.. but overall it has very little impact on the trans temps. Ambient temps play a big role. I was probably the 3rd kit installed and it was already cool out. so really no hot summer testing yet.

As far as the shifts go. I would not modify the valve body. The shifts are still going to be soft with the SC... the ECU kills power during shifts to protect the drive line. I would rely on the calibration and not valve body mods as that will most likely cause all types of long term reliability problems.

A few folks have asked for a 0-60 clip. It is informal. I used a performance GPS before and after the supercharger install. Overall I was able to gain 2.2 seconds, but my vehicle is heavily modified. Details are in the vid. Here you go for what it is worth:

Nice - can’t wait for this thing to sit under the hood of my truck.

So far how is daily drive ability?

Drivability has been really great, actually. The weather up here was icy/snowy right after install, but the truck wasn’t too squirrelly and worked great in 4wd. Coincidentally, I HAD to drive conservatively for a few days and thus I can tell you that it doesn’t change mpgs very much (if at all) with conservative driving because the sc only boosts when the truck is under duress (uphill, passing) or when you stomp on it. The tune is smooth. When it dried up I did several 0-60s and drove more liberally. It’s fun. No regrets on spending the money. If you are looking for a vendor [MENTION=153093]SiickMotorsports[/MENTION] got it to me quick and continues to provide amazing service and additional upgrade information to get more out of the sc. I have no affiliation/discounts/sponsorship from them I was just really impressed. [emoji106][emoji469]

Edit:
***to be fair, after 285’s, 3.5 lift, rack, lights, winch, sliders, & skids my gas mileage was only 12.5city/17hwy, so things could not get much worse. Those with a stock truck may not have the same experience, particularly with a leaden foot. The real difference is now the truck doesn’t search for gears and responds when I mash the pedal.

Great feedback, thanks. My truck is similarly modified but not quite to the extent yours is. But i am a lead foot...currently I also own an M3 so that car takes the brunt of the foot stomping, but it also makes me miss the power when i get in the 4R. I’m hoping the supercharger gives me enough of what I’m looking for, and i know I’m comparing apples and oranges.

Glad you’re happy with it my friend. Enjoy in good health.

Installation Guide

Anybody have a copy of the installation guide? According to Magnuson
there's nothing available at this time to email or off of the website.
My installer wants to take a look at them before he says yes or no to the
project.

I only have a paper copy. Your installer doesn’t need to look it over. It is straightforward. Probably the most salient points are: 1) that nothing needs to be done with the fuel pump and 2) the front bumper can stay on. You remove only the central grill. 3) if you have a bracket behind the fusebox on the drivers side you need a custom bracket to mount the coolant reservoir. 4) of you have a winch the radiator for the sc will fit, but you need to figure out a different spot for the coolant pump. The rest is very straightforward for a knowledgeable installer who takes their time. [emoji469][emoji16][emoji482]
