might buy this 1997 w new frame, thoughts??

i have a 4th gen but might go look at this 1997, new frame, mint supposedly.

ill gragae and have this for long term. are the 4 bangers worthless? easy to swap to v6 down the rd?

figured worth no more than 4k cash?? thoughts?

Edit: I live and wheel where there are no hills or mtns lol so the 4cyl would be okay for me btw.

guy seems tight on the phone of course but id consider $4k cash and know he would even thought he claiming no

said it is absolutely cherry, frame was replace 3 THREE years ago and aside from frame and chassis its in great shape too.

claims he turned away $4300, my ass

i kind of look at this is my solution to wanting a toy. could have been a cherokee, tj, rubi, quad, etc. but this is under 5k and more reliable...id want to do an arb air locker for rear eventually, can roll with 4 cyl in MA.

I am in CT and was looking at this on Craigslist the other day. My first thought was, if the frame was bad enough to warrant a replacement, how rusty is everything else? Brake lines, rear axle, body pinch welds, brackets, etc. No images of any thing in the ad.

4500 is definitely strong for a north eastern 4cyl in my opinion.

great point. i noticed the same about no pics of new frame, etc. i also see tacomas and whatnot with the new frames as well albeit >$10k. enough to where if hes tight on price i might pass on this. bound to see something else as enticing. if it had the v6 and locker id go over there today

Extremely valid points. I work on rusty frames. Mostly when the frame starts to get rotted. The rockers and rear panels are rusted through too. The floors are mostly good. The bumpers are junk and the lines are done. Bottom of front fenders mostly going. Doors hoods and higher body panels fine. Mostly the tailgate gets rusty too. From what I have seen in western PA here.
