Saw this on Facebook AND Reddit this morning... this build is really getting big! It's awesome!

As always, looking great. Loved the pictures of camping, always good to see things getting used like they were built for!

Pics are awesome as usual. Did you ever find out what was causing the high temps? Do you know the #s?

No I think it was just a combination of 100+° outside temps, a fully loaded truck and a steep ass climb in 2wd that just gave it hell. All has been fine since so haven't put much though into it.

That's the plan man! I'm glad I fell into this niche of a situation with the truck and I'm glad everyone else enjoys it. Sometimes when I'm out shooting I wonder if I'm doing this for me or everyone else haha.

I've been waiting to finally push past the old build and distinguish this thing. Well there's still a long way to go but the ARB Kakadu tent is a step in the very right direction. This thing rocks and I can't wait to take it on our next trip!

Things have been pretty quiet lately, but the rest of the ARB gear will be here next week or so. Hopefully the weather will cool down so we can get off the grid for a few days. The last time we camped up in the mountains it was about 85 degrees before 8am. The Baja 1000 is coming up as well as snowboarding and desert season, so lots of trips on the horizon!

A small but fun update, my legacy plates came in. Really like the look of them on the truck I think it completes the look.

Gearing up for Baja next month, and finally got some lights on the Gobi! Took me five years and two builds but I was never able to find a style I thought fit. Finally came across some Cree LED spotlights that are badged as motorcycle headlights. Pulled the trigger this weekend and loving it. I've more or less been set with the X-Rays on the ARB, but this really lights the night now, and am happy to finally have rear trail lights!

How did you run the wiring for your rear lights? I'm about to put some on my rack, hopefully today if I can get the motivation to do it, and can't decide if I should pull up the entire interior to run the wires back there or run them out the door and along the rack instead.

When are you going to Baja? My wife and I, and possibly a few friends are heading down November 18th-ish for Baja 1000 in our HDJ81. We should all meet up or head down together. Lemme know.

Well the Gobi preroutes wires front to rear on reach side which made the decision that much easier. All light wiring converges in the left-rear, and from there I snaked it through the tailgate and straight into the trim paneling below (same piece that has the cabin light in the middle).

Thanks! I ended up going a different route since I didn't want to pull up all the interior panels to run mine through the inside. I ran mine straight from the relay in the engine bay under the truck following the brake lines and then up between the bumper and along the gap for the hatch. I ran extra wiring to add more lights up there too so I don't have to go through that again... I'm stoked to be able to see where I'm going when backing up on the trail at night now too!

Different approach but I like it! And yeah I'm excited to use the backup lights out on the trail. Speaking of..currently getting ready for a weekend of breaking in the ARB tent and awning. With the Baja 1000 less than a month away I'm happy to have a warm up run with the gear. Stay tuned!

Spent Halloween in the mountains and had an absolute blast. It was my first trip with the rooftop tent and it exceeded expectations. The awning and room definitely came in handy when the temperature dropped and winds picked up. The ARB Kakadu tent is catered to warmer climates, but the tent shuts down pretty well and was able to trap the warmth. Great news for the snowy mountain camping this ski season.

The Baja 1000 is just a couple weeks away so enjoying some nice down time before loading back up. If anyone is coming through San Diego let me know and we can try and coordinate.
