I've been on this forum a long time, and many of the moderators just aren't active anymore. For example, the latest activity for one was April 2011, another was Dec 2012.

Moderators don't get paid, I know, I moderate on 3 different Toyota boards and am a Tech-Advisor on another. And Moderating isn't always a piece of cake, you wouldn’t believe what Corolla owners can be like (no offense to any Corolla people out there). Moderators have to enforce the rules of the site, and their decisions may not be popular, but that's the way it is. Accept their decisions and stop whining.

But unfortunately, the quality of this site has gone down in the last 9-12 mos, due in part to a lack of Mod involvement .

But it would help if the members read the rules and abide by them (there’s not that many), but more importantly, think before you post ! Is your subject appropriate to the forum your posting in ?
And show a little respect for the people that are going to read your post, make actual sentences using capitals and punctuation and an effort to spell.
not one big run on sentence that looks like it was wrote buya tree yeer old on crack and is reelya bunch of jibberish and givespeeple a headacke tring to reed it

If you can’t put some effort into your question, don’t expect much effort in the answer.

I haven't had much time to do a lot on the forum lately because I have been on the East Coast for training and have been busy. I'll try and make it a point to be a little more active here when I have time.

This, please. It's been asked for multiple times. The existing regional forums are hidden waaaaaaaay down at the bottom and rarely seen or used.

Kind of? lol. That's just kind of my rant after 25k posts I guess. haha. (no, not on this site) It just seems like a silly thing for people to always complain about.

Y'know what? I say it every time something like this comes up. Admin needs to consolidate the moderators. I've been going through each forum and there's tons of them. but only three seem to be active! Get rid of these people that left and ask others that are active here to help out. What sucks is I don't like to complain about mod and admin stuff. I like the site, but what's weird is when we make a thread like SV did, the weird random things that no one really cares about get changed, but the big things just get ignored. I don't get it. I know he's worried about changing anything and losing site traffic, but I think if it get's rearranged we should see more traffic anyway.

As for the build threads, I'll move them to the proper generation of their 4runner. If they want their build thread posted in the master build thread sticky (in this sub forum) they need to post a reply to that thread and myself or another moderator will modify the original post to add it.

I agree with you there. We need a new team of mods.

I also think a total restructuring would do this forum justice. The layout and appearance is sooooooo 1999.

Go to the off topic section and voice your opinion in that thread I mentioned. That's why I made it so the admin can see what the forum members want.
 
The thing is only the admin can edit or move whole sections.

I would greatly prefer we the site have "regional section" , I had previously requested a a meet ups section but regional sounds better. It must be right after the classic 4runner section.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't we already ask for this and were told no because admin did not want to do the changes, something about it affecting web traffic links.
 
I agree, the regional section is a must. The Pine Barrens, NJ thread was moved to a dead part of the forum. I couldn't even find it until I clicked the moved link through the general section and had to try and track it. I would like to point out, also, that it is not a club. It is just a thread for anyone interested in going wheeling in the Pine Barrens since it has been successful in the past.

Sv-dude And other mods,

I feel that it should be a informal requirement that any mod who moves a thread should make a post saying "I moved this thread to here" in that thread.

A lot of people are complaining that threads just moved or disappeared. I don't know how accurate that is but If that is the case, then the site is not "better off". Best would be to let everyone in the thread know it was moved.
 
Can the Pine Barrens, NJ thread please be moved either a) back here to the General Section (since it is not a club) or b) to a place that any member, including new members and old members can find it?

My reasoning is that it started out in the 4th gen section. Once it was moved to the General Section, an entirely new group of 4Runners participated, including other gens. I'm not whining about this move, but new members have seen the thread and showed interest in participating in the future (many of which had no idea there was any place to go off roading). It's new location has had zero members viewing at any time I have checked. It is below the site sponsors, in a place I, and other members, have no idea existed. Again, I am not whining about it, I just think that the move has defeated the purpose of the thread.

Here's what I'll do: I'll move the NJ thread back to the General Discussion sub forum. From here I'll move it to the off-road section. The idea of moving it back here is so when I move it again to the offroad forum, there will be a new redirect in this subforum.

I'll mention a new regional forum in the other thread and see what Admin has to say about it. Here's the thing with forum changes guys... I have been bugging other mods and admin for a while about making changes to the forum. When I first started making noise, I wasn't heard, I was pretty much ignored. I have been told by a few members who have been on the forum for a long time that admin doesn't really do much for changes here so it won't do much good for me to ask for anything. So... what do you do when you want to make a change for the benefit of a group when a group leader won't listen? You make more noise from the group as a whole and make the group leader listen. That's what I did in the off-topic section. I created a thread and got more forum users involved. In my mind that forced admin's hand to do something. He had the option of either publicly ignoring it or he had the option to imply the changes that the majority wanted. What I'm saying is that if you want a change here you need to get more people involved in the "how to improve this site" thread in the off topic section and make some noise for admin to hear.
 
Well.... I understand Admin is the site owner, correct? Now I appreciate that he's made a good site so far, but there are a few sections we can definitely improve on with a little reorganization and appointment of new moderators, and some new section rules.
