ok im new here and I would like to know what makes a monster 4runner.I have a 1988 and I was thinking of starting a build.

Without trying to sound like a smart-arse, if you want a monster truck then you need;
suspension lift and lots of it
big gnarly tires with super swamper written on them
V8 power & torque to turn the big meats and to sound like a monster

so 36's and 4" with the 3.0 is no good

It's not how big it is, it's where you take it and what you can do with it. There's a point where it gets so big that's it's not even a 4runner anymore. In no way am I saying that they're not bad ass, just that the spectrum is slightly broader than a 2ft lift, 52" tires and a 500hp big block.

Depends on your gearing. But your IFS will HATE those 36s. I suggest you start reading around the internet. Theres TONS of info on this exact subject.
