didnt really have any competition this year...the GMT900 framed Silverado etc won last year, and hondas ridgeline the year before. So those two werent even in the running. The HD series of Chevy and Ford are really nothing more that just beefed up versions of their little brothers.

Wondered if the new style went down in volume of sales or up.

Fascinating TMC receives this award since TMC just recalled 15K 4X4 Tundras for slip yoke problems. Yes, the slip yoke wasn't properly heat treated, so a hardness test will be conducted, and if it falls, it is replaced. The Tundra is in my opinion a tough looking vehicle. I would really like to have one but the bed is a waste of space in my life.

Nice trucks but like with any first year models you're going to be the beta tester. I've owned 2 Toyota trucks in the past few years and they are IMO the better built overall. However Toyota needs to tighten the belt if they don't want to follow GMs path to becoming to big to keep the quality up. When my lease is up on my Runner I may consider a Tundra. By then they will be on the 4th year model and hopefully all the "bugs" will be worked out. That's exactly why I waited for an 07 4 Runner. Tried and true by now I hope.

Even with the new vehicle problems the Tundra had it IS the best 1/2 ton pick-up on the market. There is only one reason why the domestics sell more, brand loyalty. The sales of the Tundra are right on target and as more people experience how good the new Tundra is, the more people will be willing give it a try. When you have a good/reliable product it's only a matter of time before smart people see it.

As for the 2nd sentence, the Tundra has yet to live up to Toyota's reputation. The problems keep on coming out...so, it's not like all the problems have shown up yet.
Mind you, there must be a reason why Toyota exec recently publicly admitted that he is ashamed of the Tundra's issues. He would not have said this if there is only a few minor issue.
