Hi i installed a new jvc cd player in my 97 T4R and its the motor is whinning through the speakers and its annoying as heck. I used the fac made harrness and hooked everything up right just like on my 99 T4R which works fine. I didnt use the stock amp in the 97 which i dont think works. It worked fine first few days then started up whinning one day and never went away. any u guys have this problem before and if so how did u fix it?
Motor whines through speakers any ideas why?

You have a bad speaker connection or a bad ground. Pull it out and double check all your connections

If bad grounds or connections from your install aren't the culprit, it can be your alternator. If the internal diodes start to degrade, the alternator bleeds A/C current into the vehicles D/C wiring. This will cause your speakers to act like a tachometer. Something to look at anyway...

+1. Make sure the ground is solid and the splice is isolated so it does not touch anything else.
I was thinking alternator whine too.

Alternator whine can be avoided by running new power, ground and full speaker wire throughout the car. It really isn't that difficult. 2 hrs tops.
I have no alternator whine with my full system.
I ran new power and ground to the head unit, bypassing the factory completely.
I ran new 14G speaker wire to each door.
Both my rear amps have separate grounds to different "clean and sanded" ground points.
They are fed power from a 4G d-block under the rear center seat.
Lastly: unplug all additional electronics (radar, bluetooth, phone charger & ipod from the aux-in) if that eliminates it then keep in mind those might be the culprit.

Yeah its probly my altanator cause i belive its on its last leg when i start the
t4r up in morns it makes a load skreeching from the the altanator i belive its the bearings going out i was going to ride it till the wheels fall off and then change it out. I got a brand new altanator that i bought for my 2wd that i will through it on there when the other gose out.

You sure about that? That loud screeching sound is most likely 1 or more of your accessory belts, not the alternator itself.

it may NOT be the alternator.
there are plenty of ways a "feedback loop" can occur even with a perfectly fine alternator.
most people discover the issue only after they modify their stereo systems. if it only occured after the mod then it is likely to be the wiring setup.

Not saying you're wrong, I just never heard of an alternator going bad like that. I've heard of them dying but never heard of the bearings seizing up in them like that.
yeah my tacoma did the same thing it was at 200k miles it completey locked up so i took it off and had a altanator shop rebuild it for 60 bucks. ever bearing on the truck went out! altanator, AC , timming but pullys, front wheel bearings, powerstearing. The repair guy said it looked like some one had it in a pond for a few weeks. the previous owner must had did alot of mudding in it from what i could tell. When i first bought it the brakes would'nt relases so i finly figer it out it was the brake booster took it off and it had a bunch of muddy water inside it dont know how it got there but it was the problem.

Start by running new (+) and (-) to the head unit. Each should connect all the way to the battery through the firewall. Put a small fuse 12" from the battery. You can buy one at Kragen's / AutoZone ect.
Unplug all your electronics like I mentioned above.
Test for it again using the radio or a CD.
Let us know how it goes.

Mine did, PitbullRescuer. While the bearings and internal grease (they are sealed) were cold, they would scream. A few minutes later the noise would go considerably down, but not disappear. New bearings from eBay and its silent.

I would have to side with T4R Finally on the ground issue/wire. I found a bad aux input cable with a bent terminal on one end. The ipod would whine when driving off. Minute the cable was replaced it quit, as never did it before. This trip I used my wife's ipod cable & not mine.
Seems all alternators whine from day one but question is what changed to make it audible.
That's my $.02 as I worked in electronics daily-installs, moves, maintenance, documentation, testing for a telecomm firm.:hunter:

hmm didnt know u can replace the bearings your self i will have to do this before it locks up all togather.
im thinking of useing my kenwood fold out screen radio in this and take back the jvc so i will 2x check all the wireing. Also should i ground it to some metal on the turck and not use the origianl ground?
well i took out the jvc and returned it cause i didnt like the radio much and put in my dvd player touch screen kenwood in there which was a PITA cause i had to run wires all from front to back so i pulled up carpt and seats and got it all hooked up and running 
took about 5 hours to install this and come to find it it was never the radio whinning it was my radar decter all along. I knew when i first put the radio in i didnt hear it then i did after a few days and thats the time i put the radar decter in there. so its not to bad now i think i can run a 12volt hot and ground to the cig lights and elemate the whine.
