My 00' Highlander build

Moab-March 14th

Last minute details before first trip to Moab for the year. One thing led to another and I was checking my rear axles for leaks at the abs sensors.
They were both leaking badly. Thinking back to when I installed them I took for granted that the shop had done the press work correctly. I needed to pull them so I did at 10 am. After pulling the axles I found the were pressed down to about 11mm. I took them somewhere else and he said yea we do the "3 quarter method". Essentially they put 3 quarters between the retainer and bearing then press.

When I pulled the seals I found this...one of them didn't have the little spring than holds it tight. When I went to the dealer to get more he pulled them from a bulk box. That spring wasn't on the first two he handed me and when I asked he had never realized people need both pieces.

I had been in contact with Chris and planned to try and meet up Sunday. It worked out well when they had decided to run Kane's as it dumps out south of Moab shortening my drive home.

I met up with Fishwerks , TCMach , EatonKyleH , Tracy and couple of their buddies.

Kyle dropping in, not shying away from the first obstacle.

I've got some videos that will be adding to these last couple pages of posts..check back if you read here

And I smashed the heck out of the front of my AddictedOffroad bumper. All the weight of truck was on it as I took the wrong line donw a rock face. I was amazed to see that it took it with out much damage. I really thought the front was caved in and will post that video too. Nice work Scotty.!

I need to start catching on what's happening

Time to catch up on what I've been doing "WITH" the 4runner lately. Knock on wood it's much different than last year when I was doing things "TO" the
4runner just to get it operational. This will probably take a few days...There isn't a lot of build info coming up, I've sort of plateaued on that for now and enjoying the ride and getting out.

April 14- Molas Pass
We started getting some late season snow so we headed up the mountain over Molas Pass to Ophir for some light snow wheeling and a snowboard run.

Ophir Pass
This is as far as I could make it a good mile from the summit. We actually turned around and went up in reverse to that point. Was worried I wouldn't be able to turn around.

Truck's looking good man! Why'd you ditch the 17s? I thought they looked great on your truck. Can't quite tell for sure, but it looks like you wrapped the new wheels in some Toyo's? How do you like them? I've enjoyed them pretty well so far.

Edit:
Realize now that you're rocking the Coopers. I always get those and mine confused. Haha

Posing and waiting. My friend was leading the group in a 3rd gen and we were constantly held up by the larger rigs. Still lots of fun. I sure like the 80 series behind me on 37's too.

Fun comes with a price

Lots of fun things to look at at the campgrounds...like Larry H. Millers son's $147,000 super cruiser reveal..4 wheel steering and IFS portals front and back.

Thanks..Yep, Coopers and I got 16's because I wanted more sidewall for airing down. These tires have been superb so far.

May 27- Rock Therapy 2015

Back to Moab and the day I met BrianSD_42. I could tell he was a deep thinker. Brian brought his cool buddy Rob, then there was derpiful and his buddy whose name is escaping me and many more..

This guy was one of the several victims to lack of throttle control. It was on this spot where he tried to follow me when I took the slightly harder line that the mistake was made. After a couple failed attempts, instead of going at a slight angle to get a rear tire to bite he kept gassing and POP. But the evil results didn't rear their head until he tried to leave at the bottom of the trail..Broken axle

I think this guy carried a feather duster and detail spray....so clean

Mr. clean photo bombing...

Got back to camp to discover this poor guy was not having as much fun as we were. Real cool guy that took it well and best of all wasn't injured.

Hey Moab looks fun. Come up to idaho and fish the snake river and Henry fork. Nice large fish come out of here.

Also on your kings. You don't mention much about them, did you take the spacer out of them for extended travel? What springs are you running on them?

Yes and 650lb..

I've gotten behind on posting for a few months. It's not because I've been sitting around doing nothing. The truck has been running quite well this year. At this point my thread is changing to more of a report on things than a build. I have a few more smaller things to do or get but that will be all for this truck. It serves and suits my needs very well any thing more would be overly excessive.

Catching up were I left off.

The trip to Moab was fun but the rig took a hit to the Sonoran Steel PB. Hard to believe I didn't even feel it happen.

I pulled that bar off and put the stock one back on for the time being. I did call @sschaefer about it.

June 6, Chokecherry Canyon

I had to take a few stabs at it. You can fast forward to the end. Notice how close I come to taking out my passenger door.

This was a very fun climb here.

Your truck is so clean, it's awesome to see you out there driving over stuff most people wouldn't even think about. That last pic has me scared just looking at it haha.
