Great pics dood. When you take another set, can you pull back from the antenna a bit so we can get a better idea of how it looks with the whole vehicle in the shot?

Thanks!yeah, i remembered to do that when the sun had gone down (doh!) so the one pic I took is kinda crappy since it's dark and that's why i didn't post that pic. but i'll post it up in the second update from today with the other pics so you can see for now, but i'll take another better pic tomorrow during the daytime.
Yeah, I was holding off until I saw a 5" installed, and I think it's the right way to go.EDIT: I'm really really glad I got the 5" and not the 3"...
Congrats Dood!
Did the stereo shop say if ALL the steering wheel controls will work with the Pioneer Z110BT Nav.. Here is the adapter for it. PAC SWI-PS Steering Adapter AVIC-Z110BT AVIC-X920BT NEW - eBay (item 200446079490 end time Apr-02-10 13:09:30 PDT).
Also the Pioneer video bypasses like the ones they are selling for $299 for the Toyota Nav's are dirt cheap AND work better.Pioneer Bypass Video AVIC-Z110BT AVIC Z110 lowest price - eBay (item 180473451835 end time Mar-25-10 23:18:05 PDT)
I'm in the same boat waiting on the stereo bezel but I'm torn between the Pioneer Z110BT and the Kenwood DNX9140 Nav units.Pioneer seems more user friendly but the Kenwood has the potential for better sound and uses Garmin 3D for the NAV .I've been going to the Pioneer and Kenwood forums and still researching. Both are great units.
Again ,congrats and let the Mods begin!!:hungry:
Hey, I'm also thinking of getting that Pioneer. Please keep us posted whether the Party Mode switch still works, steering wheel controls for bluetooth (I don't think they will) etc...
Also, does the Pioneer have built in XM or sirius? Are you keeping stock speakers, or are you upgrading to add a sub? Thanks
The wait for Metra is unbearable, harper!
Party mode most likely won't work with aftermarket as it is switched in the factory HU. But have them wire it so that the 2nd row speakers and the liftgate speakers are on at the same time . It will be Party Mode+2 all the time.As far as speakers , I usually use Infinity Reference or Boston Acoustic. Great sound for the price.i REALLY hope party mode still works after the pioneer install. i REALLY REALLY like the way music sounds with party mode enabled!! i know several people have said they can't tell the difference, but I can tell.
As far as I know, the bluetooth controls will not work, but the others will. This is OK with me since I can't get the dang BT phone controls to pair up my phone anyways.
According to my installer, the pioneer does not have built in XM/Sirius although it is XM-ready meaning you have to buy the XM receiver to have it additionally hooked up.
I am eventually (when I have the money) going to upgrade the speakers and maybe add a small sub and will probably stick with pioneer for the speakers/sub. any thoughts on pioneer speaker/sub quality?
hope this helps!
Doodman,
Did you get the Viper locked on with the options you were looking for? Were the installers able to get the alarm to work without using a spare key?
Thanks
S
Just have them put your Pioneer nav without the Metra bezel until it gets here. It's just a cosmetic piece of plastic that snaps in place.I'm taking mine out this weekend just to see what harnesses I'll need.I'll shoot ya some pics of how it snaps in.
After some more research,I am probably going to get the Pioneer Z110BT like yours.I can get one for $878 shipped where the Kenwood is $1100.Both are great units. Did you see on youtube how easy it is to bypass the Pioneer for free? Move a pin on the harness and splice a couple of ground wires.Sweet!

Hey dood ,check out this cool electronic gadget I saw on ebay tonight.Innovate 3805 RAD-1 Rollover Avoidance Inclinometer New : eBay Motors (item 180477588300 end time Apr-04-10 20:36:29 PDT)
yes, exactly. when i say i prefer party mode, i am referring to when i am driving. compared to disabled party mode, having it enabled gives you increased clarity, non-distorted bass, and clean treble. basically, it seems to me that party mode custom optimizes the settings to make the music sound better.
Also, in party mode, all power is diverted to the very front speakers and the very rear (hatch) speakers - the 2nd row speakers receive no power and thus play no music in party mode. i found this out during my pre-delivery inspection; i was checking all the speakers and thought the 2nd row speakers were defective since i didn't hear any music coming from them. i later realized that this is a feature of party mode.
Is that barrier poking into your headliner on the driverside or is that some weird reflection?
hey shawn,
what options are you talking about? if you are referring to the window roll-down module, tilt sensor, etc... i did not get those since they are each $100 extra. the installers spent ALL day trying to get the bypass to work. only AFTER i mentioned to them that they might have to use my valet key (a suggestion that i read on here from semperfly's experiences), did they finally get the system working properly. so, yes, they will need to permanently put a key in the steering column in order for the Viper to work. i assume this is the same for you?
