My Dash is cracked no more.....my recovering project

So just got done fixing my dash. Got the flat black vynil with the texture pretty damn close at Jo Ann fabrics and picked up contact cement from Home Depot. Material was $25 and glue was $11 and i had the paint brushes lyin around. Used a little heat, some patience, and some luck and i think it came out fantastic. It is by no means perfect but i dont think you would ever know.....on to the pics

i was able to peel off the existing vinyl with ease with the exception of the corners around the bezels, gauges and a\c vent. The toughest spots were around the defrost vent

from here i am going to let it cure for the next 3 days inside. Unfortunately wont be putting it back in the truck fro quite a while since it is being torn down. My buddy has used the same method and had very good success....i may try and give it some sun time to see what it does...but from here on out its getting 303 protectant

and i forgot to mention i have removed both my airbags and they wont be going back in so i am not concerned about it affecting deployment...the back of the OEM vinyl was scored if i remember correctly

Nice job, would not expected it to look that good. As for the dinner conversation piece kudos. My wife would throw a fit to have truck parts in the house, let alone on kitchen table.

Looks awesome, nice work.

I would recommend using a marine/high uv resistant vinyl so it wont fade and wear out as quick. Could also try 3m's super 77 for gluing (hit both sides with light mist, makes sure you have no bubbles) Its got great tack and holds strong.

Well that's not cool please don't ever sell truck. I know SRS light will flash but some people will never think twice about flashing or disconnect light and sell to someone else who thinks they're are safe.

I will one day sell it but it will be obvious there is no airbags....if/when i do sell it it will be a niche market...its getting a billet steering wheel and full chassis built....likei ive said before....i'm going a different directionmost wont appreciate so i dont discuss it here...my daily taco will be my lifted truck

Holly s*#!, that is one cracked up dash. Did you have bear intrusion or how the hell did it get that bad? Nice work on fixing it, though.

i bought it in 08 with 64k on it and a decent dash with no cracks...within 6 months it started cracking and just kept going....i was able to aquire another dash but thought i would try fixing this and sell the other one if i was successful at fixing this one
