My last post...

Oh, yes, I often reminisce on my Jeep days! Stuck on the side of the road broken down, replacing every sensor and the ECU to no avail, A/C died twice , broken motor mounts, the time the rear wiring harness burst into flames spontaneously while parked and burned the back half of the interior and all before 36,000 miles. So much time at the dealership...Good times, good times....
 
I owned 5 jeeps and don't miss any of them. The 4R is infinitely more comfortable. I might own a Jeep again, but the current version is just way too expensive.

Post a picture of your new Jeep so when one of us sees that beauty broken down on the side of the highway we can stop and laugh at you.

Btw 4R engines make noise.

My Buddy has a 2015 grand Cherokee. Since ownership, he’s spent over 6k in repairs. It has a little over 100k on the clock, which I guess is high for a Jeep. Anytime he’s driving and smells burning oil or radiator fluid, he automatically assumes its his car and it just puts him in a bad mood. I hear the wrangles are more reliable? I hope you enjoy yours and that it treats you well.

It's funny about the burning smell. My old Liberty had some kind of smell that I could never pin down. I wasn't even sure if it was coming from the Liberty since I wouldn't always smell it in the one place that I parked it and would smell it most. Since I got my 4Runner, that smell is gone.

As much as I miss my old Wrangler TJ, I remember it got a check engine light in the first year or so. :toilet:

I worked at a place where the plumbing got eff’d up by a contractor and the toilets were spewing sewage up way high. Super funny. Sinks too. ‘eff New Jersey.

This. I have both a 2012 Rubicon 4dr on 37's and a 2012 T4R SR5 premium.

Both have been great vehicles for me, but you can't really even compare the 2, they are that different. But each is 9 years old and I still trust either to work when I want it to.

On a side note, the only one of the 2 that ever gave me symptoms while driving where I was scared I might get stranded on the side of the road was the 4 Runner. Go figure.
 
The Jeep JL forum is packed with horror stories. Everything from annoying problems to seriously threatening problems that dealers shrug their shoulders at regularly. I would be embarrassed to work at the plant in Ohio that puts that crap together. Enjoy your Jeep experience.
 
My Son is a off roading big Jeep fan, pretty much all he's ever owned. He's had 4 different ones over the passed 13 years.

When i asked him what to get, and without hesitation he said get a 4Runner. So i did. :hungry:

Do you think we’re too hard on them? Like quality wise? Seems like all brands have good and bad items off the assembly line, even Toyota gave a bad 2019 suspension part and I believe 2020 front shocks are bad in cold weather?

I ultimately chose 4Runner over a Wrangler after 6 months of research and I still think about my decision. I read the good, the bad.

I also saw the Wrangler engine from the hood perspective and there is absolutely no room to work on things yourself. You will be taking parts off to get to parts. Smells like a tactic to get customers coming back to the dealership for repairs.

I was looking at my 4Runner engine today and just loved how spacious it is. Idk if I’m willing to give that up when it’s time to go electric.

I don't believe it is FIAT anymore. I think they merged with the company that makes Peugeot or some piece of crap like that. Stiletto? Maybe the combination will make Jeeps even more POSs if that is even possible.

You just happened to get one that was built on a Wednesday/Thursday before the-first-check-of-a-cola-adjusted-pay-day-of-a-non-football-holiday-weekend-w/Monday-off. Yeah they do occasionally build good stuff :D :brick:
 
Jeep, if OP is referring to the Wrangler, is a very different vehicle than the 4runner.
I had enjoyed the simplicity of my TJ for 15 years. I went less than 3 times to the shop during all these years and I have learnt on youtube to do almost all maintenance, repairs and mods including lifts myself. I never had to worry about scratches and dents going offroad because they simply added character to the vehicle.
With the 4runner I am now able to maintain a normal conversation with passengers on the highway, secure large items including in-laws and mountain bikes in the back. However, I have to spend triple the time for an oil change and I am reluctant to do any mod myself as parts are much more expense and it's more complicated but so as the newer JL.
Think I have made the right choice regardless as I don't go offroad anymore.
