You did exactly what I did few months ago..I traded 1998 Jeep GC for my new Sport Edition and I'm very happy with it. That GC costed me probably same money for all that repairs that I pay now for 4Runner.
I'm very interested in that reverse sensors . Could You give me some more info about it like where did You get it and did You install them by yourself and how difficult was it and if You could get some more pictures of that display for it because i was looking for something like that but i couldn't find anything with a nice looking display that would look good in my interior..

Krosno, I know what you mean about the repairs - it was always something, and my GC only had 86K miles. I really liked the GC new model - until I drove the T4R! The fit, finish, and features of the Jeep didn't compare.
I purchased the reverse sensor on eBay - heres a link to a similar model: Reverse sensor
The nice thing about this one is that the display is pretty small, and the gray plastic matched my interior fairly well. It reads the distance in meters, but I pay attention to the sound - it beeps faster as you approach an object, then a solid tone within 6-12 inches.
The kit I bought included a hole saw. I didn't have a problem installing the sensors, but drilling that first hole in the bumper made me a little nervous. They are black and don't look out of place on the grey bumper.
I ran the wires through a grommet on the drivers side and routed them into the jack storage compartment where I installed the control box. It was easy to tap power off the backup lights. Instead of mounting the display up front, I decided to put it in the rear, reasoning that that's where I would be looking as I back up. Total install time was about 3 hours, most of that spent figuring out where/how to run wires.

Great writeup. I like this a lot and place for that display couldn't be better. Not that i have problem with parking but from time to time I hit someone and this should help me with that a lot....
The only problem is that mine is Titanium so black sensors would look terrible so I will have to paint them to much bumper. I wonder if I can spray paint over them.......

Krosno, do an eBay search for "reverse sensors" - I've seen them in different colors, including a silver that might match your titanium much better. I back up my driveway, so these help keep me from "tapping" the garage door!
Rawze, I found these at AutoZone in the "fog light" area. They were a complete kit, including brackets for tube-type bumpers. I used the bolts on either side of the hitch that hold the plastic bumper cover to the steel underneath, then ran the wire through the same grommet into the tailight area. Took less than an hour to do.

Bluto, those are sold as aux. backup lights. They use a 55w bulb, but the lens has a diffused pattern instead of a clear one like a driving/fog light. On my Jeep, I mounted a single driving light under the rear bumper for the same purpose. These work pretty well, but they don't throw a lot of light all the way up the driveawy like the other light did.
For power, I brought the hot lead up into the taillight area and tapped off the lead for the existing backup light. Just from memory, I think it's red with a yellow stripe.

One tip for anyone who installs a reverse sensor - place masking tape (the blue "painters" tape works best) in the approximate location for each sensor, then use a Sharpie to mark the spot for the drill. This lets you adjust the measurments a bit without ending up with dots all over the bumper. I left the tape in place as I drilled to help protect the area around the hole.

I had the dealer install mine. I believe the company they use is Echomaster. I'm sure I paid a lot more than the systems on eBay, but I don't think I would have had the guts to drill holes in my bumper anyway.
There's a photo gallery on their site with white 4Runner like mine, except with black sensors.
The company has a California address, but if you look at most of the photos in their gallery, they are of vehicles in Hawaii. I do see quite a few cars with these sensors around town -- probably a great profit generator for most dealerships.
They also have info about an interesting trailer hitch version that eliminates the need to drill.
