My new ride 00' Limited

i had no idea you could get a limited with e-4wd and a rear e-locker!
that is a extremely rare truck!

I spent over a year looking through the awesome buyers guide and new I wanted a 99-00 Limited for the E-locker and the "AWD" (versus regular 4WD) option. I think this is what you mean? I was also considering a truck like yours 01-02 with the trac instead. I was willing to get either as long as it "felt right" if ya know what I mean...

I think that all 99-00' limiteds have this option. I will say this, thank you so much to Brian2sun for the write-up on the transmissions and different gearboxes. It makes it crystal clear on how to work the trans.

I was wondering how the button on the shifter worked, lol, its really convenient to have pushbutton awd on the fly!

Long as you are under 55 you just hit the button on the shifter and your in 4wd! press it agin and your out! now I dont know were your button is but mine is on the dash, to lock the transfer case, were your rear locker button is. for that it has to be in neutral then hold the transfer case lock button down till it lights up in the dash that it is locked,of corse after you hit the 4wd button. here is the transfer case lock button

OP, nice find! Very clean looking. I paid $9500 from a private seller but that was a year and a half ago, but I didn't have to pay any ridiculous fees. I felt like I paid top end but it was super clean and it already had new upgraded shocks and the timing belt and water pump work had recently been done. I bought it for my daughter who was about to go off to school in the mountains - so the push button AWD was a plus. The e-locker is a nice to have but she'll probably never use it.

If you aren't familiar with it, read up on the "pink milkshake". If yours has the original radiator, think about replacing it. Mine was having no rad issues but I didn't want to wait until it did - so I replaced it with a new Koyo and new hoses. Also, if you don't know if the timing belt and water pump has been replaced - check into doing that - should have been done around 80-90k.

When you put a new air filter in it, pull the air box and the MAF and clean the MAF. I just had to clean my MAF due to a CEL and when I checked the service history, I found that it was done 4 years ago as well. If I had realized how easy it was to do, I would have done it before now.

Thanks, going to check the VIN now, yeah I think I will replace the rad and install an external radiator cooler at the same time...

If you have the money get ICON vehicle dynamics new shock setup that has adjustable valve dampening control. It is not on their website yet but you can call to talk to them. You will be looking at around $2,500 but you can dial in the shocks super soft or stiff. Call and ask for Brad. These are not the exact ones but will give you a better idea of where the adjuster is located.

Picked up my 97 limited with 127k for $6400. Pretty close to new in and out and garaged. Absolutely love 3rd gens.

sorry for the long post- thought it would paste in smaller. All that was in 09' so at least I am definitely ok on the T-belt and diff/trans/axle fluids. I also saw a new instrument cluster 4 years ago and a new climate control/heater unit. Interesting that the first record was in 08 though...Yeah, think I lucked out on this truck....

At least the history you have is good. Mine seems to be just a little over a few year period and only for problems, not maintenance, but glad to have it. I also got some paper history from the seller. And when the TB and WP were done, the date and mileage was recorded on the radiator shroud.

I've had mine for a year and a half. I got a CEL P0440 the day I drove it home and fixed by replacing the rear O2 sensor. I got a CEL P0171 last week and fixed by cleaning the MAF. Last fall, had a rear axle seal leak and the previous owner had already had all of them replaced recently. I think that is a common recurring problem with these. Replaced the radiator to hopefully avoid the pink shake. Have had to replace a few interior and exterior bulbs but other than that, it has been great. These things in this condition with low miles only get harder and harder to find.

Yeah, so far so good, but I wont be daily driving it until November when I turn my lease in...picked it up now though because you are right- tough to find. I read somewhere on here about the axle seals and to make sure the updated seal part # is used for them...

I think I will inspect the radiator and unless it looks spankin new, will replace it and install the new trans cooler. I also noticed: In between the time I looked at the truck and the time I bought it, someone removed the hitch. I am pissed because I was going to use it, but now just because they got away with it. Still it gives me an excuse to replace the bumper and install a new one with a rear tire carrier!
