Nark's VIAIR 450C Install

Here are some pics of my VIAIR 450C kit install. I was able to find just enough room in the engine compartment to install my 450 compressor and 2.5G tank. I ended up having to fabricate a number of brackets in order to get it mounted.

This is a 2 piece bracket that the above tank and mounting brackets sit on to keep the tank in the proper location and orientation:

Here you can see the mounting location for the pressure gauge and pressure cutoff switch:

Here you see the final position of the compressor and tank:

Lastly you can see where i mounted the quick disconnect. I decided to mount it under the left rear bumper. It's currently held in place with a tie wrap. I'm working on a more permanent solution:

Little bit of advice. When installing an on-board air system, especially one where you won't be able to reach all the fittings once installed, make sure you pressure test all the fittings at max pressure before installing. Don't ask how I learned this piece of wisdom. :redbrick:

I also realized that I cannot get to the drain fitting at the bottom of the tank. Which means I won't be able to drain any accumulated moisture in the tank readily. I wonder how long before it would rust enough to compromise the tanks structural integrity. Hmm.. :hiding:

I know you don't want to take it apart again, but, why don't you run an extension line from the drain to somewhere you can get (?by the airbox?).

Sharing knowledge is what helps make advancements. I'm just helping spread what I think is the bible to any car person. So when it's time for me to ask the question on to solve that fog light LED issue for a fellow forum member:, the expert in that area will chime in...

I got the kit at a local 4X4 shop. I actually have the VIAIR Constant Duty Kit which is a whole kit vs. just the compressor. Here is a link for the kit at Amazon.com: VIAIR Constant Duty Onboard Air System: Automotive

I relocated the air gauge and power switch to the back so it would be close to where I have the quick disconnect mounted at the rear of the vehicle.
