Need help with fuse box in engine compartment.

I need a switched fuse slot in the under engine fuse compartment in my 2016 4Runner. I was thinking there would have to be a fuse slot that only turned on when car key was switched to ON in the under hood fuse box.

I feel like I've tried most of them. Does anyone know if there is a free slot I should be looking for?

I have some led grill lights that I want to come on with the key. Was thinking it would be super easy to wire to the under the hood fuse box and not have to go through the firewall.

Ok, I can't seem to find a diagram showing them numbered. Please help. Anyone even know if this is possible?
 
There are no "ignition-only" circuits under the hood to tap into. The fuse box is powered straight from the battery.

It's easy to tap into the fuse box in the driver's footwell and run a power wire into the engine compartment though. Rubber grommet is right there behind the emergency brake.

Hi bbenson,

There are much easier ways to accomplish 'Intermittent source' accessory triggering than going into the fusebox. Are you planning to use a dash-board mounted, push button ON/OFF switch? If so then using a 'Courtesy light accessory' for 'Fail-safe' electrical triggering is the way to go. Now I'm using my center console 'cigarette lighter' to trigger my PIAA fog-lights, 8 inch OPT7 LED, and two subwoofer power amps. I did it that way because it was easy from a 'wiring scheme' standpoint, economical from a electrical 'install material' standpoint, and very convenient from a 'lazy, washed-up old ass (seen mo betta dayz) mechanic's pov!

Another good thing is that the AOB, slee off-road etc... in-dash switches all offer: courtesy circuit 'Etched face Back-glow' lighting, so these in-dash, push button switches will not only match your stock accessory switches, they'll light up at night along with the stock push-buttons for that professional factory installed look! http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/159174-factory-style-fog-light-switch-fits-knock-out.html Hope this helps, Rgds!

If you're just wiring simple LEDs which will have less than 1 amp draw for marker lamp purposes, then just tap into the parking light circuit. It will easily handle a small load. I'm assuming you're looking to do something like the Ford Raptor grill marker lights.

If you're looking for switched power so that you can turn something on from inside the cab while it only has ignition power, then you're going to have to go through the firewall anyway for the switch.
 
I see you posted an update in the other thread. Do you have any other pics? What wiring route did you end up going with and what lights did you purchase?
 
Ended up tapping into the parking lights. Bought 3 of these round led lights off eBay for $12.99.

[MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION]. Am I wrong in saying with an Add-a-circuit in the drivers footwell fuse box, you can not put the cover back on?
Seems like a lot of dust and dirt could get up in there without the cover.
