If it is bad you can always fab up a small light shield that goes under the light to catch it before it hits the hood. I know KCHilites makes them if you want an idea of what I'm talking about.

yeah id be interested to see what these shields look like. If anything i should matte my hood
no... not really haha. I can't imagine the downside of the glare besides being able to see me from space :rockon: I mean Jeeps obviously do it all the time, i've seen a few raptors with it and then a local guy i wheel with has them like this on his Tacoma, hence where i get the idea
dang, now I'm super curious how this is going to work, I hope they do more good than harm lol!

Another idea is you could have just drilled a mount hole right through the back of your hood. Put a small piece of aluminum flat stock above and below hood to spread the pressure out on the hood sheet metal and clamp to the hood. That way hood still opens and the wiring wouldn't need to stretch far to open hood. Hit the inside of the holes with a paint pen or similar to protect metal.
This is provided you don't mind the permanent holes.

I was actually considering this method, but, holy hell, i already had a hard time just drilling holes inside of my engine bay haha. I prob would of passed out drilling holes in my hood lol But yeah, i was thinking a long the lines of clamping something on to the end of the hood, but then you gotta deal with the wires and all the crazy stuff.
My concern now is this hood glare, i've reading mixed reviews on other forums with people that have a lot of glare and some who don't have it that bad

Won't know for sure till you try it but like mentioned above you could put a small scoop on the bottom and paint hood flat black like I did.
I actually just did this exact project. I will hopefully get pictures up very soon.
I made some brackets that actually went in between the door seal and the frame of the car. Again, I hope to have pictures up ASAP so that you might get an idea.
I put the Rigid Dually Spots in this position and the glare off the hood is actually very minimal. I was surprised!

Biglogs beat me to it....I just came up with the idea today.
The idea is to tap/bolt or maybe even rivet the vertical flap along the weatherstip channel, what have you, the other could then be double-sided taped on the pillar side where the green tape is, that way you have 2 sides resting against a surface for more rigidity.
The idea could be refined a lot more..like I said, I came up with it just now and started welding to give you a rough picture.
Having the bracket stuck out like this might just help reduce any glare from the lights, plus it's a lot more elevated, thus giving you the option of directing the beam lower to the ground..

so good news! everything is installed. the glare is minimal if any at all. I even shined up my hood to see if I'd get any nasty glare and nothing!

yeah I was pretty concerned when you told me that. I started looking at pics and reading some of the jeep forums where they got some mad glare. Maybe it's cause my truck is black? dont know but all is good!

it could all be in the location of the mount, i mean an inch or two forward or back, up or down, side to side and all in relation to the driver and the hood ect... glad it worked out for you. when i built my first roof rack i had 4 lights on it, and the placement of them was just perfect combined with the beam that they just glared of my windshield like mad. to the point were they were just as much hindering as they were helping... every little speck of dust or bead of water, or anything would be amplified, now i have a different rack design and the lights sit further back over the sunroof now. close the shade and no light comes in, problem solved lol.
