New Exhaust

So, just thought I'd throw a few pictures up, know it's been done before.

I went with the Magnaflow 12586 Muffler and had them run the exhaust out the side to help prevent exhaust from coming in the truck. I trimmed a little piece of plastic so that the tip could be tucked as high and toward the tire as possible to help prevent banging it offroad. And I would've liked the tip to be level or even turned up slightly, but at the suggestion of my exhaust guy had it slanted slightly down to help aid in draining moisture.

I sounds really, really good. Not too loud, much deeper, and no resonance. It's pretty much as loud as the engine now. It balances nicely.

Here are some photos:

did you remove a lower fascia thing in the under the rear bumper or does the trail not have it? my SR5 has a lower valance/ fascia thing with a grill and a notch where the exhaust comes out of rear end...

Looks good. Great idea re-routing the exhaust out the side. They should have done that all along like the 3rd Gen.

Can I ask you how much for muffler and installation ?

I just purchased this exhaust last week from Amazon for $87 (49% off retail) plus free shipping and no tax. Arrives tomorrow. Will have a shop weld it on this weekend. I'm contemplating if I should have the shop make it a side exit but I have the LE/SR5 rear bumper and think it may look strange since it is pre-cut for a straight exit.

Amazon.com: Magnaflow 12586 Stainless Steel 2.5" Oval Muffler: Automotive

I payed ~$70 for the muffler shipped and the shop charged me ~150 for the installation and new tip.

Also, I have the Trail - so no rear bumper cutout for me.
