New fine-grained VSC OFF Mod for V6 1GR

I noticed all of you guys have the 4wd. I just bought an 07 2wd v8 sport. I went up the the mountains and had to chain up. I know I should have gone with the 4wd but living in socal we don't get snow. But when I chained up the car would not move due to the traction control thinking the wheels were spinning. But with chains on the wheel does slip a little. So does this mod work on the 2wd as well?
 
2 Doozi: The way how the mod impacts 2WD mode is a mystery. If you find out any dependency between RPM, sliding and beeping - I will be higly appriciate that.
As for the 4WD mode it is more clear. A-TRAC works around 1500-2000 RPM and tries to stop wheels spinning using ABS. If you go over 2K RPM - nothing can stop you.
Newyotaguy: I had no idea that V8 can go with 2WD! Sounds like a drift-car... If you had no throttle cut :)
Unfortunately, this mod will not help you as it works with 4WD models only. However, I think you can do the mod which completely kills power on VSC and it mush work for you. You will have to switch ignition off/on to make VSC operate again, but you will be able to spin your wheels out of the road at least. You can probably search for the thead describing this mod. It is pretty simple and requires power switch only.
 
I was in the snow with chains on and the car wouldn't even move. Total loss in power and all the sounds of the LSD. I know about the power switch one and thought about that. But having all the lights come on in the dash it annoying. From the looks of the mod that is here it looks like the only difference would be transfer case. As I don't have one maybe there is just one wire I don't have to worry about. And it would still be nice to have ABS. And I think when you do the other switch thing the ABS goes out as well.
This car is a ton of fun to drive. Without having the extra weight and moving part of the 4wd this car is really a very quick car. I just got it because I live in socal now. Not much need for 4wd down here. And the couple times that I will drive to the mountains per year I can just chain up or have a little spirited drive going up.

I'm affraid I have only 3 units left. Mike07SE, you are lucky to book the last one. Will double check if the factory which builds the boards operates... they might start celebrating already :) If so, I'd rather not ask them building some more at the moment... this is 10 days holiday in Russia and I doubt man can do anything during this period :-D

Interesting test would be if you grounded 43th wire (Red with White) for a while (like momentary button does) with the mod OFF. The connector is located in engine room. Please refer the picture attached. No worries - it is safe. The worst thing which might happened - no results at all. From the other side your ECU might switch off VSC if it supports this option. Note that engine should work while checking.

Did you get illumination during the mod ON or you always got it just after switching it off?

Are there any chances to read temporary error codes? OBD scanner for example?

i have a 06 v6 4wd and the repair manual has same diagram for mine as 07.. but says that pin #43 is for 2wd models only
i've looked and i have same color wire on same pin but key on i have a 12 volt output from actuator computer.. something tells me i shouldn't try to ground it
i'm waiting to find a 08 with stock switch so i can see if it uses a 12 volt signal
... but i doubt it will

Hello Kliv. I used to own a 1999 SR5 4runner V6 4x4 and I loved it. I recently sold it and purchased a 2006 SR5 4Runner V6 4x4 and I hate the traction control system. I have read this entire post and really need to order this mod. I'm a very techy guy so the install should be simple. Can you please PM me how I can purchase one??? PayPal? Cost with shipping?

Thank you so much for all your work on this project. The first day I drove my new winter vehicle, I knew I had to find a fix for the traction control. I can't believe Toyota made the 4runner cut out like that. My main concern is for daily driving in 2WD, but want the benefit in 4WD as well.
