That being said I charged the a/c and it works for now, the bulb for the 4wd is working again somehow, and added a can of seafoam to the gas tank and filled up with 93.

Ehh idk I have seen several stock 4runner that have warped rotors and they are driven by soccer moms and people who only use the vehicle for transportation... If you are replacing the brakes why not upgrade them for the same price... You will never have to worry about the brakes again. One and done(pads will still require replacing as they wear out no matter what).

Don't get me wrong - it's a good upgrade. I do still think that stock brakes work fine in stock applications. I only ever had warped rotors once which was years ago. That was on the original rotors which were quite worn. The mechanic put new pads without even getting the discs resurfaced. I got them replaced and never had an issue again. You can't really tell how often a vehicles brakes were serviced. For all you know the soccer mom 4Runner's you saw were under-maintained.

Just realized today that the car is a 2000 haha shows how little I know. Check engine light also came up as p0171 which I believe is MAF sensor, so I'll try replacing it

Try cleaning it. Search here for how to. Very simple. The cleaner is about $5 at the parts store.

I seriously envy your low mileage 3rd gen. Mine is approaching 200k and it's heartbreaking like watching a beloved dog get old.

Had cleaned it once, light came on. I cleaned it again, and drove it 100 just tonight and light is off, so I think that did it. The starts also don't seem to be as long as before after cleaning it. Tomorrow is rustproofing and brakes

I live in the rust belt, and I've seen worse rust.... That said that's significant for a truck with 45k. If you're serious about keeping it for a long time... Replace that maf, and before you "treat" the rust, paint it with por 15. It works. Clean off the grease, get rid of the loose stuff, the. Just paint on the por 15... Costs a bunch, and it's a royal pain in the ass, but it works! I spray fluid film on mine every fall, and my truck looks so much better than anyone else's up here(rust wise).

Replace that maf, and before you "treat" the rust, paint it with por 15. It works. Clean off the grease, get rid of the loose stuff, the. Just paint on the por 15... Costs a bunch, and it's a royal pain in the ass, but it works! I spray fluid film on mine every fall, and my truck looks so much better than anyone else's up here(rust wise).

I missed that. Damn! Did it spend that 45k driving on a beach? Start sanding off that rust and painting. Then, spray over the frame with Fluidfilm and inject the inside of the frame rails with it.

No big deal... Just some time, money and elbow grease VT uses some brine formula that I swear adheres to the underside of vehicles! Some preventative care and you will be able to pass it off to your grand kids!

So a little bit of a bump, the car now has 53k miles. The rotors i replaced last year warped, so I got replacements for free thanks to a warranty, never did the TBU. I did replace the radiator however (hopefully don't need to worry about the milkshake), got new antenna off ebay, and had it rustproofed again. Also got a new rear wiper+arm for $12 off ebay, OEM toyota. Wiper finally cleans the rear window. I do think it will need struts and shocks soon though and at some point TB/WP

If it's an automatic, replace the radiator and flush the coolant and replace with Toyota Red coolant

Are you planning on sticking to stock size tires? The stock brakes are quite sufficient for that application. Make sure your rear brakes are in good shape. Radiator might be a good idea since it sat for a while with that same coolant.

My stock brakes are fine with my stock size tires. If I drove it like a teenager, I might want bigger brakes.

in the process of POR-15ing my truck MAN this stuff is awesome. that is some pretty bad rust for 45k I'm at 150k in the rust belt and mine is only a tiny bit better. had to have my frame welded.

also bought some silver por-15 for the body of the truck. battery tray was pretty rusted. just make sure to use a top coat as por-15 is not UV light resistant
