Yep, exactly. I'm sure they spread out wider without the buildings but I'm referring to the dark spots up close to the left and right. That's exactly where shit hides out on the edge of the road, like critters. The OEM LED fogs fill that all in but I can't help but think that a properly designed reflector and HID bulb would be able to light all that up and throw plenty of light out front too. I'm sure that the halogen projectors are focused to the front since there's just not that many lumens to spare to light up the sides too.

Just did a quick search. Ford forum not alot of press. One guy had an issue relating to Ford's canbus or whatever they use, wouldn't apply to a runner(I think)

Thinking about running Diode Dynamics H7 HID kit. I have their SS3 fog pods and the build quality is top notch.

It can be common with LEDs and is pretty much the achilles heel of this lighting technology. The upside is that LEDs typically have a long lifespan.

OEM might be different, but Osram is reputable.

Edit: I hope these Alpharex units outperform those dumpster fire Morimoto XB lights.

I believe irreplaceable/non-serviceable lighting elements are common with OEM products, as well. Looking at the Toyota 4Runner/Tundra fog lights, for instance, I highly doubt the LED module can be replaced.
LED chips themselves are not as prone to fail in a circuit compared to the other electronics needed to operate them. As LEDs age, their light output is reduced. Theoretically if the rest of the electronics hold up, the LED will not burn out, just become dim. It is good that AlphaRex is using a respected chip manufacturer but there are different grades/performance levels of chips within the same brand. I'd be more concerned with that, quality of the other components, circuit design, heat management and optical performance.

Looks like AlphaRex has a 2 year warranty on their products. Hopefully it never has to be used.

As for Morimoto, it says a 5 year warranty on their product page, but it looks like getting warranty repairs is a PITA from the posts from other forum members. Morimoto needs to step up their customer service game and quality control if they want to stay competitive.
