New lift and tires installed

Installed lift and tires. Very exciting. Went with the Sonoran Steel 1.2 and some 285/75/16 KO2's. Installed the lift on mine and my friend's 4Runners this weekend (along with lbj's don't worry) and just got the tires today!

I noticed I'm experiencing some rubbing, I expected to have some work to do with the 285's. It's rubbing on the uca's and of course the lowest part on the inside of the front fender flairs. I ordered some spidertrax spacers to fix the uca's and will have to reassess the fender once the spacers are on. It sounds like a 1" body lift might be necessary.

Looks pretty awesome! I think you will have to increase the lift indeed, or maybe add some spacers.

I'm new to it so I'll sit on the sideline and read the comment of people who know what they're talking about :)

I have the 285 duratraks. 3" toytec lift. I put 1.5" trail gear spacers on mine. No rub. I'd wait until you get those on until you change the lift. Or add a body lift, I don't like those (personal opinion)

That's good to hear. I'd like to avoid adding a body lift if I can. I don't mind doing a bit of trimming, I think once I add the spacers the rubbing to the fender flair will worsen. Then I need to play around and stuff the wheels up to see what else I get.

With just a 3" and 285s with spacers I could fully stuff with no issues up front. You should be okay.
 
If you use spacers and have the caster adjusted a bit, you shouldn't rub much or at all with those tires.
 
Looks good how did your re-alignment turn out...especially caster? I have to do something with mine so I can fit snow chains. Will do as little as possible but something has to happen. Cant be getting stuck anymore!!

I think you can achieve up to 2 degrees of additional caster with the aftermarket upper control arms. Really worth it if you are going above 2" of lift and want to use 33" tires.

Next step: save $500 for said aftermarket UCA's. Do you think uniball's are worth it? I can't imagine I would actually put them to use (or that really anybody not racing could).

Get ready for some hamming/bending/trimming! The tire is rubbing on the bolt in the back of the fender, no bueno. Will need to employ a hammer or something.

Here's some pictures of when I removed the front-most lowest portion of the Limited fender flair, the piece that attaches to the bumper. I achieved a little more clearance just by removing these. I'm going to Big Bear this weekend so I needed to do something. If this is all I need to clear here, then I'll trim those pieces down and reinstall them to keep cleanest appearance. Some testing pictures too, although the real test will be this weekend, assuming some trails are passable. STUFF IT!!

Thanks....I really appreciate the info....keep us updated on how things work and dont work.

I only need clearance for snow chains on the front for my 265/75/16's. I also need a new suspension (256K on original), and I have no interest/need for a crazy suspension and all the additional headaches and costs. Keeping as close to stock as possible. Just ordered some Spidertrax spacers, and a 1" body lift kit.

I've done the modify and mess with my vehicles/toys thing. Every time I was working on something my Grandfather would stop by ask what I was doing. He would say every time in a louder voice "HE WHO SH%^& FAST DOES NOT SH%^& FOR LONG" as he walked away. Oh how correct he was!!
