Hello all, New to T4R but not to Toyotas! I just moved to Texas from Indiana and have had a 92 pickup 4WD, a 94 corolla, and now have a 99 4Runner. Here are pictures of my old Pickup and 4Runner. I have a few small mods including a 1.5" rear spring spacer, Optronics 55W fog lights in the front, Optronics 3 pod 350 lumen camp/reverse lights, tacoma wheels on 265/75R16's, and a Wally World roof basket. Cheers!

Crazy Austinites

Welcome to crazy Austin and a great discussion board on T4Rs. I have a '99 4x4 with locker I bought two years ago. I went off-roading once and loved it but I don't know of many places near here to do that. Mt. Bonnel? I'm about to buy some new tires to replace the almost bald ones. We should have a meet and greet sometime and share info., good mechanics, places to ride, etc.

It's a family affair here at T4R! I've learned a lot of mechanical aptitude from my brother devero4. Brothers in 4Runners!

I was kidding

...about Mt. Bonnel. You're right, it is a neighborhood and I think the neighbors wouldn't look kindly on us crawling to the top.

haha on the joke! I've seen some guys around bull creek though, would be nice not to have to drive so far for some offroading fun!

North Austin

Up in north Austin there's a place off the power lines where I met some guys and rode some trails. The highlight was a steep hill where I tested my Runner, and my fortitude, going up a pretty steep slope. Whoah. I've never been in a motor vehicle at that angle before. It was fun in a I'll-feel-really-stupid-if-this-thing-rolls-over sort of way. Picked up some pinstripes, too, courtesy of mesquite or something.

Curious

Oh yeah? Whereabouts more or less? Trying to imagine where that incline could be, but yeah I'm with you on the roll over thing. I almost did that w/my quad 2 weekends ago, gotta slow down!

These are directions I got over a year ago. May be developed now. Never know in Austin where every vacant lot wants to be a condo.

"Take Parmer to a small road called Yager (will be on the north side of Parmer, one block East of Dessau). Drive down Yager until you see huge power lines, and a dirt trail to your right."

I know that area

That's just a few miles across the freeway from me, know the area but didn't know there was a place to offroad. Gonna check it out this coming weekend....thanks!
