Nice 4Runners in salvage yards Houston area

Heads up for my Houston bros:

Just got through visiting a place called Almeda Auto Salvage on Almeda Road near the south loop of Beltway 8. They have three very nice 4th gen SR5s there for parts. There's obviously going to be exterior collision damage, but the rest of the bodies are nice and the interiors are fantastic and nearly complete. Very nice seats, interior trim pieces, door panels, everything. Windows are up, so they've never been rained in. If you're looking for exterior or interior pieces, this is the place to go. And FYI, for some reason there seem to be very few yards in the Houston area that have 4th gen 4Runners.

I've been crawling junk yards for 30 years and I can say that the guys who operate this place (Dave and Victor) are some of the nicest guys I've met - not like the ex-cons that typically run these places.

North of 610 in the Tidwell area? Tons of yards up there, but it's surprising they don't have much in the way of 4Runners.

Preacherman, my dash is perfect. I'm guessing the previous owner took care of the truck. Don't post much because most of my tech questions go unanswered unless they are related to tires and lifts, so I get my info elsewhere. Good forum for general stuff, though.

I can assure you that a cracked dash is in no way related to the level of care provided to it. I am the original owner of my '05 and have taken nauseatingly meticulous care of my rig and dash, but still ended up with a cracked dash. Regardless, I am very sorry that you have not been able to get answers to most of your questions on this site. If you ever have any other questions, by all means, PM me and I will do anything I can to help you.

Back when i was 16 we could go to any salvage then "junk yards" and they would allow us to freely wander the whole yard long as we wished.
If anyone found something they wanted they said take it off and drag it in for a price. Them days are long gone sadly,but they were some of my best remembered days.

They have been there a long long time. Before computerized inventory and today's consistent 40% off of dealer prices.

They kept my Toytota Supras and GM cars running for cheap in the 70's and 80's. They even had a 'hoot-n-holler' intercom connected to a network of local yards and could locate most anything fast.

Very interesting. Well, so far I'm lucky because my dash looks good. And you know I'll PM you if I need anything. Still hoping I can tailgate you all the way down 518 one day....
