I didn't notice any more wind noise than I was already hearing from the light bar.
The rack actually came with a fairing. It was rattling around enough and causing it's own noises though, and I ended up removing it within a day or so. And, honestly, I didn't really care for the looks with the fairing installed anyway. lol
If I didn't already have the light bar causing wind noise, then I might have considered a fairing. But with my setup as is, I don't miss not having it on there.

Here are some photos from a trip last weekend with my buddy's down to Corral Canyon, East of San Diego.
We had planned to hit a few trails in that area that day, but the Sidewinder trail took us quite a bit longer than we anticipated. Between having one truck in our group with only 32's and less of a lift, and just taking our time planning out all the right lines, and b.s.'ing, and taking some time to relax at lunch....it took us the better part of the day to get through that one trail. After spending a solid 7 hours on the trail, we realized that that trail was only 1 mile long! haha But man was it worth it.
This trail was a good mix of fun and difficulty. Lot of rock crawling. Lot of getting the truck sideways and nearly vertical. Some ledges. We used almost everything we had on our rigs...from sliders and skids, to clearance and protection provided by our bumpers, our aired down tires and rear lockers, we even got to break out the tow strap a couple times. We didn't need to utilize the winch though! It feels good when you put all those parts to good use!
One of our guys (the white 2nd Gen Tacoma) (he was the one with less lift and smaller tires) came away with the most damage, almost destroying his transmission skid, and scraping up his fender flares pretty good. The wrap around on my rear bumper got scraped up, but it saved my rear quarter panel. I only got a slight dent and scrapes on the quarter panel. And my rear passenger-side flares got the most of the damage, when I had my truck sideways, resting against a huge boulder. That flare got scraped up, and pushed upwards....preventing me from being able to open that rear door now. lol I guess that's all part of the fun of wheeling huh!
It definitely pushed us further than we had gone before in our rigs. It was one of those trail days that we'll remember for a long time.

I wish I could've made the trip this past weekend, looks like a great time was had by all.
I didn't get my ignition & keys replaced, incorrect parts. That'll happen this weekend but I did get the alarm FOB's dialed in.
Makes me nervous... someone is rolling around with a set of my truck keys, AARRGGHH!
You coming over when we install Dave's spindle gussets and shock relocation tabs?

Thanks! Are you the same jdmpnoy that had/has a super clean red EF hatch? That thing was beautiful man! It was always one of my favorite EF's at those old meets!
Back during the old Griffith Park EF meets, I actually had a white CRX on white Advan RG's. Back then, my brother in law still owned the Tahitian Green CRX that I currently own, but I don't think he ever brought it out to those meets. There was another guy that used to bring his Tahitian Green CRX to those meets though. His name is Ezra. It was mostly stock, and unbelievably clean! Unfortunately, he sold is a bunch of years ago now. I did have my TG CRX out at all the old Eibach meets and the EF meets in Downey though. So you might have seen it there.
So what are you doing over here? Are you yet another former Honda owner turned Toyota offroader? lol
yup lol still have the civic, i remember your white one it was super clean! I just redid the whole suspension and took it to my first track event a couple months ago. have a 2015 tacoma on te37s that I'm too worried to off road so i picked up a 2000 4runner to mod and start off roading. need some posts so i can post a build thread already lol

Thanks for the concerns and tips dudes. I just finally got the light installation wrapped up. I haven't had a chance to take them out for a test run yet though. If they do happen to put too much glare on the hood, then I'll try turning them outwards a bit. I was really looking for side coverage while going around blind turns at night anyway. If that doesn't work out, then I like Brian's idea of just mounting them to the bumper.
Here is a crappy instagram photo of the lights installed:
(Since the cowl had to come off to install the light brackets, I went ahead and shot it with a coat of SEM trim paint. Looks new again!
I think I mentioned before that after having switched from my original OME 890's in the rear to the 891's recently...I still wasn't happy with how the rear was sitting. Still a bit to saggy, with all the added weight of the bumper and full size spare.
So I ended up picking up a set of OME 861's, and I just installed those this past week. They ended up raising the rear end by 2.25-2.5" over the 891's!
I'm now at about 40.5-41" from the ground to the underside of the SR5 flares.
They were kind of a pain in the butt to install since they are so damn long. It required disconnecting the lower and upper links, as well as using a springs compressor.
Even off the truck, you can tell that the 861's are a lot longer than the 891's:

Great looking rig! I am running a similar lift setup. Ultimate with the 861s but have more of a rake than you do. How high are your front coilovers adjusted here? All the way? mine are about 1/2 way and I want to know how far you can go or what is ok and how well it rides?

I just re-read this an lol'd....given that work you've already put into your 4Runner, and that it was supposed to be the truck you can offroad and not worry about. haha

Sorry for the late reply.
As for the minimal rake on my setup....keep in mind I have a fairly heavy bumper/swing-out/spare/hi-lift/etc. setup in the rear, which helps keep the rake from being too obnoxious.
Also....my 861's are installed on the wrong side in that picture, so the driver side rear is a little lower than it should be.
Unfortunately, I don't recall how far the front spring perches are from the tops, but I do remember wrenching them up a little before installing them. If I remember correctly, ToyTec ships them set up for 3" of lift. I'm guessing I'm at about 3.5".
The ride is a little on the stiff side overall. It doesn't really bother me but, then, I come from a background of lowered Honda's set up for track use. So I'm pretty used to stiff suspension. I'm sure it would be too uncomfortable for others.

It's been a while since I've updated this thread! I'll try to get some more pics and info up soon. But for now, I'll update with my new tires....
I've been running 285/75/16's (33's) Wrangler Duratracs for the past 4.5+ years. I always told myself that when it's time for new tires, I'd step up to 35's. Well, my tires had been wearing down more and more, and then 4th of July hit and Discount Tire Direct had some good deals, so I pulled the trigger on a set of 5 315/75/16 Duratracs.
With my 1.5" body lift, I figured I wouldn't get as much rubbing as most people do.....but, umm....yeah....lots of rubbing! lol I can only turn the wheels about 30% before they hit the front of my sliders. I'll need to trim off the front of them and weld on an end plate I guess. After they clear the sliders, then I can see where they contact the wheel wells, then go from there. For the meantime, I'll end up installing a set of Spirdertrax spacers that I've had sitting around. Hopefully that will give me slightly more room to turn the wheels until I can modify the sliders.

If I can get all the clearancing taken care of, my next step is to order a set of 5.29 gears. Hopefully all that will happen in the next month or 2!

I really dug how they were freshly powdercoated by the previous owner, making them a little more stealthy. I bought them figuring I may end up needing them if the 35's give me problems in the rear. They'll be one of those "will only install them if I need them" type of items.

Man, you have one sweet looking rig. I like those FN 5 stars more and more every time I see them. And, those are some big shoes on there too. I rub with my 285s, I can't imagine all the drama that 315s would cause me. LOL. I want to find a good local alignment shop that knows how to adjust SPC LR UCAs. I should be okay then.
