Any updates on this thread from everyone who put in C or E load?
I have run both, C in 285/75/17 and E in 305/70/17
Bottom line, the RG's have their positives, however I didn't feel they were stand out performers over other tires I have run. The 285's were better by far than the 305's. Although I had problems from get go with the 305's in that one was horribly out of round and gave me death wobble at about 65 mph. I put 38,000 miles on the 285's and about 5,000 on the 305's.
Dry road manners were solid on both. Reasonably quiet. Didn't get hit too hard on MPG's.
Wet roads were just ok. Better with the 285's than 305's. I think the increased load rating didn't play well with the 4Runners weight. (Keep in mind my rig is quite heavy)
Icy Roads just ok on both. They would break loose starting from a stop and in corners. I had to run 4 Hi in all ice or snow situations where normally I'd only switch to 4 Hi if it was bad. I've had much better performance from other tires
Snow and deep snow were pretty good although again I've had better from other tires. (BFG KO2 and Duratrac) Siping was virtually gone by 38,000 miles on the 285's with only 2/3 the tread worn.
Colorado/Arizona/Utah/New Mexico Trails performance was good although again not better than others. Had to air the 305's down much further to get similar performance off road.
Mud we don't get much of here. What little I ran through was not an issue.
So overall a mediocre tire. say B-/C+.
I'd have to say that it's strongest suit is it's a good looking tire. I think there's a couple other AT tires that are similar and better: Cooper AT3 LTX, Cooper ST MAXX, Mickey Thompson ATZ P3, and Falken A/T3W.
