No power to second cig lighter outlet??

I have a 2004 with the ashtray/lighter kit near the geat shifter that contains two 12v outlets.

This has been working right for quite a while, but all of the sudden the second outlet (the one without the square cover on it) has stopped working.

The other outlet in the assembly works, as does the one in the back of the vehicle.

Obvious answer is to check the fuse, but I am only seeing one fuse for cigarette lighter outlets. Is the optional cig lighter outlet on a separate fuse? How could it be that one of the outlets in the assembly is working and the other one is not?

Where can I find a good fuse diagram (the one underneath the fuse box doesn't seem to help much).

It could be the outlet itself is faulty. From what I was told the cigarette lighter outlets are not as sturdy as the outlets designated for electronic devices. Early on Toyota was replacing a lot of cigarette lighter outlets under warranty because they were really not designed durable enough to handle the constant removal and insertion of electronic devices. This is why today you find outlets specifically designed for powering electronic devices apart from the cigarette lighter.

Thanks for the info. This thought had run across my mind as well. I'm going to do some extra exploratory work with a multimeter and see if 12v is going to the leads at the bottom of the receptacle, in addition to checking the fuses.

I'll report my results back here, if nothing else to give others a datapoint if they happen to search and find this topic.

Yeah check the plug underneath the center console to see if you are getting power down there.
