Nose Dive

I've noticed the nose dive on my 2011 sr5 4wd. My previous ride was a 1997 sr5 4wd with maybe 15k on the bilstein shocks, so there really wasn't any nose dive with that, I loved the bilstein shocks, will probably put them on this one when its due....

I think I drive pretty mellow these days and will coast to a stop whenever possible. The nose dive in my Trail coupled with the surprisingly high amount of brake force required tends to make every stop seem a little like a panic stop. I've had my truck for 2 years now and I'm still not completely used to it. I often end up stabbing the brakes (and nose diving) more than expected to avoid overshooting stopping points. Maybe I've become a lame driver in my middle age but I've ridden motorcycles for years and if you can't learn to brake accurately on a bike you don't live long.

How about this: a person's perception of nose dive is subjective. It all depends on his driving history and to what level of nose dive he's accustomed.
If I had previously been driving a subaru wrx sti, or a mazdaspeed 3, the 4runner would seem to have considerable nose dive. However, I previously drove a ml320. The nose dive, as the previous poster metioned, is only noticeable under hard braking, to me at least. Compared to my buddy's f-150, it has zero nose dive under all circumstances.

Very true. That being said, my history consists of things in the chevy full size line such as Tahoes, Silverados, and Avalanches, and I defintely noticed a disconcerting amount of nosedive in the SR5 I drove yesterday. It was on bridgestones. My father-in-law's 2012 taco on dunlops does not show the same nose dive.

I'm still hunting down the right TE (3 weeks my dealer will have one, supposedly). I've been convinced I wanted KDSS but the side to side action in the SR5 wasn't bad at all, again compared to my other experiences in vehicles I'm familiar with. If I'm satisfied with side to side action, yet will need to make adjustments to reduce the nose dive (to make me happy) by way of suspension and tire upgrades, I may skip KDSS. I dont drive like a bat out of hell but the t3r nose dive is very noticeable compared to other vehicles.... even my 97 runner didnt dive like this
