How do you check if a o2 sensor is bad?

Check voltage, sweep/ switching at the o2 sensor check terminal.
If you have nothing, then you have to move down the line, and start checking other things, including fuel trim.
If you have a signal, but it doesn't change when "*active tested" the sensor is likely dead.


* artificially changing fuel mix, like adding air or fuel manually

When i was jumpering te1 and e1 i got a reading that the truck is running to lean....and my friend said that i hit another port and shorted the o2 sensor out and now its running to lean (artificially changing fuel mix, like adding air or fuel manually) what you said.

does this sound right?
