new guy here--i think it looks cool so far. I'm hoping to get one. I'm probably in the minority in that i don't care for how the 4th gen looks--however, some of you guys have made your's look great.

I think Toyota made a mistake by only offering 17" and 20" rims. That's too much of a disparity IMO on the Limited and the 245/60-20 tires are gonna look too skinny. I think they should have kept 18's as standard equipment on the Limiteds and simply bumped the tire size by one aspect ratio (like they did for the 17's) to 265/65-18 (what I put on my GX) from the 4th gen's 265/60-18. The 18 would have been just right for the Limited, not too big and not too small and several tire companies make some nice A/T tires for 18" rims now. The 20's make it look like the Highlander or new TLC (not a good thing IMO).

Also, it looks like the white Limited doesn't have any running boards - something that's come as standard equipment on Limiteds since the very first Limited came out in '95 I believe. Looks weird / naked without them. Does anyone know if running boards are something they've done away with on the 5th gen?

Looks a bit like an FJ Cruiser from the front. Overall, I am pretty happy with the little I see.

i guess i am one of the few that think it looks pretty nice from the pictures so far. there are a few things that i don't like but overall it look like it will be nice.

1 quick comment, what happened to the fold out center console tray/table from the 4th gen?

Well some pictures have finally been revealed...

IMO, the front end looks pretty nice, but I don't really like what they have done to the back...as someone before said, it looks too "pilot-ish". But I guess that I have to see it in person before I make any final judgments about this new 4runner.

I dont think it looks all that bad. The limited(white one) looks the worst with the side/front skirts.(makes it look like a lowered sequioa) The official Toyota pic and the other spy pics make the 5th gen look boxier and tougher, less rounded, which I dont mind. The interior is tough to tell. Is the screen nav or just the info screen for climate control, radio, & etc?

For those that mentioned not seeing a psuh button start, it would only be found on the limited versions as stated in the pdf's floating around. The interior pic may simply be from a SR5 or TE version. I wonder if all versions will have the 4WD level being the limited model is supposedly the only one with full time 4WD while the others have part time.

eesh...I'm pretty disappointed...that thing looks exactly like a Highlander...not that I mind the Highlander, but there is nothing that sets that 4runner apart from the other toyota SUV's...

I agree about the tires, I don't like the bling factor 20's they are putting on them. Makes your tire selection horrible, forget about getting any type of Revo's or any decent tire to put on there.

Seeing these pictures makes me REALLY glad I bought a 4th Gen. I hope it looks better in person, but I'm doubting it. The exterior looks kind of cheap to me. The crap headlights and taillights... wtf... why the downgrade!? The interior looks alright, a lot of buttons and knobs (that people tend to complain about) going on in that center console though! I don't know about the cupholders.. I actually like the ones in my 4th Gen, which some people dislike, they work well for me! That steering wheel is HOT! I like my 4th Gen armrest vs. the one pictured there. Looks like the 5th Gen won't get the 'lil fold out tray/table that the 4th Gen has. I like mine to sit food on while on the go. I'd like to see the Sport model with the hoodscoop, maybe it'll make it look better/more aggressive and I don't like the smaller side view mirrors at all. I do like how they're releasing it on my Birthday, but regardless if I like the look in person or not, I'm sticking with my 4th Gen 'til a 6th or 7th Gen come out!

I can see that. I will reserve judgement until I see what the entire truck looks like. I can't make a big decision until I see the whole package, not just a 10% look at the corner of it.

Hope the Sport keeps the hood scoop too.

Personally, I'm happy that my 4th gen will easily last until the 6th gen.

Yeah, but they are all grainy. I think I still need to see it in person.

I too am happy with my '07 Sport, but might be able to con the Mrs. into another vehicle to replace hers. Either another Runnah, Tacoma, or (if she has it her way) a freaking minivan. Ugh.
