Agree with everyone who said buy a TEP and upgrade from there. I wanted an inferno in the worst way when I was in the market and got sick of looking. Wound up with a white TEP and did a bunch of upgrades and so happy I did. Even TRD Pro owners turn their heads when I drive by.

No need to wait. Much more fun to build it yourself.

I had to do the same thing, my dealer "ordered" a 4x4 gray sr5, not too complicated right?
Said it would be here in two days. Well three days later I call and they said it would be two more weeks. Then come to find out they ordered a black one. I ended up driving two hours away to a dealer that had one in stock.

Plain and simple lots of dealers lie..... If its not on their lot, they have no more pull over getting it than another dealer unless it has all ready be allocated to them. If you are going to have them get you one from a dealer swap or direct from Toyota, make sure that there is a VIN on the contract and that there is a guaranteed deliver date. Try to negotiate in a penalty for missing the delivery date. If they know they have it for sure, they will be willing to put it on paper and back it up.

The Pro funfest was still in full swing for most of the 2016 model year so that almost caught a break, but this thread combines all Pro years. How can you not enjoy that? This isn't rocket science. Figure out what is the must have feature that is the hardest to add and go from there.

I'm happy with my TE Premium with KDSS, but had the Pro offered a moonroof, the upcoming Barcelona Red Pro would have made me very jealous. I'm just a little bit jealous.

I really wanted the quicksand Pro buy my wife hated the color. Then it was between the white Pro or TEP. I chose to save the $5k difference in price($3500 off MSRP for TEP) and mod the grill for $500. That's really the best part of the Pro IMO. And living in Florida I do like having a sunroof.

I don’t even recall PRO being offered in when I bought... but wasn’t really wanting it anyhow. Living in TX, I like the sunroof as well, etc. Heck, I didn’t even plan on any mods either... just wanted to level out the front a little. Whoops.

Anyhow, exactly what was stated above. Figure out what are the most important items you need/want, and go from there. It’s your money, do as you please. I get the allure of PROs, and like them. But if you are going to mod it at all, my 2 cents is with the others... get a different model and build up from there. If you are leaving bone stock, then PRO is worth shopping for... but you’re going to have to do just that (and probably in a different state/part of the country). :blah:

IMO:

Go TEP if you're looking to modify within 12 months.

Go TRDPRO if you're NOT looking to modify within 18-24 months.

Boils down to finances, if you can swing it. Go for it. If you can't, don't go for what'll keep you car-poor to the point where you can't even fill'er up.
