OME 884/895E OR 885/895 on a V8 4Runner

Go with the 895E. The 895 will keep the rear in the stink bug stance.

I will be going the this route here shortly. I have an 05 V8 w/ XREAS. I was going to go with the 885 front and 895 rear. I will have a front bumper or sliders coming a month or two after the suspension so my understanding with settling and the extra weight it will have the stink bug look go away.

So I've got another another going at this time as well but basically I'm in the same boat with my V6. I on the other hand have the shrockworks front bumper ~150lbs, Gobi Rack and going to put C4 sliders ~130lbs total, I'll possibly be adding a winch with synthetic rope which should be another 40-50lbs. I'm wondering if I should go with 885 or 886 on the front and 895 or Toytec Superflex in the back. There might be other options as well but this is what my dilemma is at this time. Any suggestions ?

P.S. I don't mean to hijack but to merely to clear the water.

Its kind of misleading

Hi all. So I've gone through hundreds of threads on all forums and yet I still can't get a straight answer.

I want to remove/replace my xREAS/Air on my 07 Limited with conventional struts/springs. I know I need the Metaltech RAS to coil adapter kit.

The 885/895 is supposed to give a 3/2" lift but there's no consistency with the actual lift. Some say it's 3.5" some say it's only 2.5" after settling? As I do not want to go with aftermarket UCA's to get my alignment back in spec, i want to keep the lift to less than 3". 2.5-2.75 will be perfect and based on calculations and articles, it appears like I "should" be able to get this with the OME 884/895E combo. This isn't recommended on a V8 but that's because they assume you want a 3"/2" lift. I don't.

Hoping that with the 884/895E combo, I'll end up with a 2.5"/1.5" lift instead which will not require any other aftermarket mods.

Can anyone confirm this? Especially those with V8 4runners that have the 884/895E combo?

Thanks!

when aftermarket manufacturers claim specific lift amounts from their produces b/c the lift claims are based on OE ride height levels as if the truck was new and not if the suspension has sagged over time.

If you dont plan on adding weight in the future be aware that all OME stuff is sprung/valved for additional weight ranges beyond the dry weight of the truck. b/c of this its not best not to mix OME coils with other struts/shocks b/c the struts/shocks wont be valved for the higher spring rated OME coils. If you go OME coils use their struts/shocks.

Lastly when i installed my 2.5" lift i needed UCAs. Just saying

I'm getting this combo put on next week, plus a 1 inch spacer. From my discussions with 4wheel Parts, whose putting it on, the lift will give you exactly what was expected, the 2.5 / 1.5.

Thats why I added the spacer. And I have the exact same year and model, so I'll let you know how it turns out.

And agree with ^ about replacing UCA's. I have 129,xxx miles now, so I decided to replace all the tie rods innter / outter, ball joints, sway bar end links, and UCA's. With the amount of miles, additional tire size, and use I plan for the truck, I said might as well.

Update After Install

Hey guys,

Just wanted to give an update after getting the lift installed and everything put together.

So I went 885/895 with the midstiff front coils becuase I have a v8 and plan to get a bumper in the fututre, and normal / medium load rear coils. And pics are still with stock sized 273 sized tires.

The lift took care of the front rake, but due to the stiffer front coils, the front is just slightly higher. This extends to the ride quality as it's great overall, but you can feel the front is slightly stiffer and takes bumps better. In the future I plan to swap the rear coils out for the stiffer 895e coils. But overall very happy.

One piece of advice I'd offer is just to match the stiffness front to back unless you like having the rear a little stiffer, which can help for on road driving.

Note: I did add a 1 inch spacer on top of the OME lift because even though it's rated as a 3/2 inch lift, after install it evens out to about 2.5/1.5.

2006/sport V8 w/884/895e

Here is my 2006 Sport V8. It has OME 884/895e with OME nitrocharger shocks all around. I also added the 1/2 in top plate spacer for the front because I didn’t want it to sag from the weight of the V8. This setup has 10,000 miles on it and is completely settled. The tires are 265/70/17.

Those CV’s look great, thanks !

GA-V8, by chance do you have any pics of your CV angles, you look a bit higher with the 885’s, which is awesome but I’m concerned about those darn CV’s.

Why'd you go with the 884 on the V8? I'm in the process of doing mine and thought the 885s were recommend for V8? I like the way the 884 looks on yours.

I obviously can’t answer for him, but when I do my fronts I plan to go with the 884 too on my v8 because it has a bit less lift, which I feel through research is a better match to the 895E springs I’m running in the rear. If I had the standard height 895’s, then I’d go 885 fronts for sure. I’ve already had a reverse rake and hated it, which is why I went with the 895E in the first place, and it has a nice stance now with the Tacoma springs in front, but it’s a full inch difference front to rear. I think it would be perfect at about 1/2”, but it’s not a high priority at the moment to fix it.

When I was researching, everyone said 885/895. I bought through Toytec, and two of their sales reps told me to go with the 884/895e. I was really surprised to hear that since everyone does the 885/895. Anyhow, I did he math with the sales man and if I added the top 1/2 in top plate spacer to the front 884, there would be essentially no rake at all, perfectly even. Since the v8 is heavy I assumed a little sag after some miles, and I was right, leaving me with 1/2 in lower, or positive rake up front.

Maybe I’ll go higher one day, but that means I’ll have to start looking into after market UCA and other stuff. With this setup I had no issues with alignment and it’s a good look I think.

Cool, thanks for the info. I like the way the 884's look on the V8, really want a 2/1 lift so I think this would be a better option. I have 885's but after reading more and more, seems like people are getting 2.5+"

Sweet, this is what I am going to do on mine now then. I have the 885 but the more I kept reading, the more it seems like some need new UCA's and I dont want to do that at this point.

With the top plate spacer, did you do both sides or just the drivers side?

What size tires are you running? Im looking at getting the falken wildpeake at3/w in 265/70/17

I just got those tires in that size a few weeks ago and love them! The size/scale is perfect for a small lift such as I have, and you’re looking for inmo. I bought aftermarket wheels with a +1mm offset after much research and I’m really happy with the look and stance. I did have to remove the front mud flaps, and relocate the front of the wheelwell liners forward a bit more for extra clearance, but have zero rubbing issues now. It was totally worth it just for the better scale, and aggressive stance with a better offset. I hate when the wheels stick way out, but these sit perfectly even with the tops of the wheelwells. The Wildpeak tires have a slight bit more “white noise” than my previous Toyo Open Country ATII tires had, but the more aggressive look was worth it to me. They are much quieter than most AT tires this aggressive which is why I chose them.

just curious what you final ride height you ended up with. I have an 05 v8 and I cant decide between the 884 with plate or 885. im looking for 2.5/1.5 after everything settles

Not exaptly sure of the stock ride height hub to fender, but from Hub to fender my setup after 10kmiles is 22.75” in the front 23.5” rear. (Checked and double checked on flat surface) Hope that helps. I’ve read that stock ride height is about 19”front/21”rear.

Just from my research, seems lift amounts vary, and typically with the full OMEyou always get more than what’s advertised. If you call Toytec out of Colorado, their guys will answer any questions you have.

This is my 05 V8 with the 884/895e setup and "trim packer" thing.
I went with 90021 shocks in front and 60004s in the rear.
I replaced all the sway bar links with Moog. Did the gen2 sway bar links in the rear and relocated the front as it was just a little close.
Interested to see how it settles.
Loving it so far.
