4600's are great for a 100% stock truck. I put them on my 4Runner when it was still my Dad's years ago. I'll be doing 5100's with 906's in the rear soon.I had my step-dad blow out the 5100 shocks made for his Tacoma twice because he didn't have a lift on it. Now it's a Tacoma and not a 4runner but without a lift on the rear I would just do the 4600s. That's probably where this statement is coming from. I think the 5100 isn't meant to run with stock height in the rear.
5100s Specific to the 3rd gen? I've never seen such a thing. Do you have a link?

Fairly new... and they have fully adjustable 2.5" front coilovers and 5160 rears on the way...
