One cause & fix for "VSC TRAC" & "VSC OFF" lights, Zero Point Calibration

Does anyone know of a OBDII affordable scan tool that doesn't use the CAN protocol? Everytime I use any scan tool on my 2003 4runner SR5, it triggers the VSC lights and I have to do another Zero Point Calibration again.

I quit using the Bosch OBD 1150 scan tool and bought a Motopower MP69033 scan tool but this one randomly uses the CAN protocol first when it doesn't have to which causes VSC lights to come on. I have no idea why it doesn't detect ISO all the time. It's so frustrating.
Getting really tired of all these scan tools using new protocol first and you can't even set it to only use ISO only.
