Opinion: 18" or 24" Magnaflow muffler?

I want something with a nice tone, nice rumble/growl, and extra volume. I need something that is quiet enough that the wife will not be annoyed by it during everyday driving.....


Basically, it can be loud when I get on it, but it needs to be decently quiet for normal driving, and NO drone for the highway. Which is the better option? And if anybody has the exact PN's....post 'em up! Stainless please. :fro:

I vote 18" universal, but you might like teh 24" better.
You want regular stainless or polished?

I have the 18" quiet it is not.

I voted for the 24" if the wife wants it quiet around town and not to drone on the freeway. Hopefully it will be loud enough for you too!

Definitely not the 18".

I don't know how quite the 24" is. You might need to go with a different muffler.

If you don't want droning then I would not go with the 18" magnaflow. It defiantly has a nice tone but it drones pretty bad on the freeway but mine might just do it cause I have mine dumped. I am going to have mine routed out the back and if it doesn't change the drone I am going to go with a 24"

I like most of the suggestions where to go with the opposite of what they have or would get. hehe.

I know, no help on what to get, but maybe you can find some wave files on line somewhere that has the different muffler to hear them.

ya im going with 24'' in your case i have the 18'' and love it its not soo loud u have to yell to talk when just driving but it's nice when u mash it and it roars to life :naughty:

o ya heres the part number for a stainless 14250 you pretty much want a center in offet out

From when I did my research, the bigger the muffler, the less droning inside the cab, well at least for these Magnaflow Mufflers.

It sounds great and I have hardly any drone at cruising speeds.

I have the 14255, its an 18" polished magnaflow and i love the way it sounds. cant hear it at idle but sounds awesome when you mash the pedal down with no drone on the highway.

Here's the interesting thing: when I look up 14255 on Summit's website it says it has a 5x8 oval body, with an overall length of 24" and a case length of 18".

But the same PN on Jeg's website says it only has a 14" in body length. I wonder if Jeg's is a type....supposed to be 24" instead of 14".

Ya the muffler body is 18" but the overal length end to end is 24". I bought mine from advanced auto parts. If you type in lc123 when you check out you get like 40 dollars off and free shipping so mine came out to be $85 shipped to my door.

I'm using the promo code at AdvanceAuto.com tomorrow to buy the 14255. It's a 18" body...but I'm sure I want it, instead of the 24" body...because the more I think about it, the more I want it to be louder and beefier. I don't think the wife will care much.
