Ordered the Magnaflow 14255! I'll take sound clips before and after with my video cam...
Opinion: 18" or 24" Magnaflow muffler?

I'm looking forward to the clips. I'm thinking about getting one as well, but only because my stock has a lot of holes in it from rusting out. I think I'll go with the 24 because I want a quieter, but good sounding exhaust.
Someone said center in / offset out? Not offset / offset?

With tax, it was $84 to my door. I think the lc123 code is still good! And you can't beat free shipping.
The 14255 is 24" total....which looks to be perfect for me to be able to install it myself. I'm just going to cut the stock muffler out as close to the muffler as possible, and then use stainless steel band clamps to put the new one in. That way I can take it off, or take the exhaust apart easily in the future.

Install is Monday. I'm doing it myself....if it fits the way I think it should.
I do have a question: if my magnaflow muffler has 2.25" in/out....will it slip fit into or over the existing piping? Or is it going to just butt up against it? Usually they are designed with the 2.25" to be the ID, so they'll slide on right?

You went with the 18"? If so you're probably going to need some extra pipe and a welder.

No...the overall length is 24". The stock muffler body is only ~21". Cut it off flush with the canister on both ends, and there is at least 1.5" of pipe on either side to play with.

Well good luck. My Cherrybomb is 20.5" and they had to add pipe.

Finally installed! The pipe size was wrong for me to install it myself with band clamps....I'd have needed to flare some pipe. So I took it to a local shop and had him weld it in. Fit perfect, he didn't add any pipe at all.
It's starting to sound good. The initial break-in period....I wasn't too thrilled. But it's mellowed out and has a nice tone now. I do have sound clips, but still on the Flip....and I have no idea how good the quality of the clips will be. I might redo them.
Overall, I like it alot. It sounds fine on the highway (louder than stock, but not droning or annoying) and it sounds real good at about 3.5k rpm. I wish it was a littler deeper for the 1-2.5k RPM range....but I guess that's the V6 sound that you can't exactly change.

The 14" hits the low RPM range pretty nice. Trade-off being a pretty loud note at anything over 3k RPM. If you could combine the low RPM sound of the 14" with the high RPM sound of the 18", I think you'd have a perfect sound.

I think I made a big mistake
I went with the Magnaflow 18' and am I sorry. Granted I'm old so my ears might be messed up, but I hate the sound, It's not just loud, loud I could deal with but it make's my runner sound like a hopped up civic
What should I do next?

I think I'll rip it off tomorrow, and install something else, ideas?

Thought I'd throw my 2 cents in on this... just got the 18" magnaflow and this issue is clearly extremely subjective. I think it's barely a step above stock. Definitely a nice little change, but I certainly wouldn't mind a little more. Of course with a stock little v6 engine you can't really expect to get a nice deep rumble so I'm ok with the mellow sound over a loud ricer sound.
I'm 22, so anyone in my age group making this decision I say the 18" gives you a nice little extra rumble and minimal additional volume. Had to have my music off to enjoy it at all.
And overall I wouldn't say it's worth doing if your stock set up is fine. I only did it because my muffler broke so I needed a new one anyway and it was only about $50 to go magnaflow instead of stock. If you have the money of course it's not too expensive and does add a nice tone, but for the average 22 year old I'd say put your money elsewhere until you need it.

This should help out anyone wondering how the 18" sounds in the cab. The tires I had at the time are a bit whiny so you'll have to look past them. Vids are pretty long. Second one is a little better I believe.

Resurrected! What model 18" did you go with and did you swap it out? I went with the stainless 18" MF 11256 and a 2.5" MF 35136 stainless tip for my 3.4L.
Overall I'm pretty happy with the sound, but it drones a bit & is quite loud (not in a good way) from around 1700-1900 RPM. Almost like there's not even a muffler on there. Seems to be mellowing out as it "breaks in" though.
I have a K&N CAI (77-9015KP) from my old 2002 Tacoma that I'm gonna try out. Wondering if anyone has that combo and how it sounds? May just go the deckplate / ISR mod and put the CAI on CL/Ebay though.
Also wondering if I'd get some different tone by going with a smaller diameter tip? Think I read somewhere about someone running 2.50" up to the muffler then 2.25" from the muffler to a MF 35125 tip.
