Paint Chips..

While giving my 2011 4runner TE a good detail job I found two very small paint chips, one is on the drivers door, the other above the left rear wheel well.

Any recommendations as to the best way of repairing these ? Will the ten dollar tube of touch up paint from the parts department be sufficient, or should think about paying 4x as much for an all inclusive kit that also includes surface cleaner and a paint sealant?

As a side note...I did not recall seeing these prior to cleaning the car this weekend. I used both a karcher pressure washer on a setting that seemed non damaging and also keeping the wand about 3-5 feet away, and also a porter cable DA orbital polisher. Ive used both dozens of times before on different vehicles with no damage done and hope that this time around I didn't inflict this damage.

I've found two tiny chips almost in the same places where you did. I put !!!tiny!!! drops of a touch-up paint I've got from a dealer. I used a wooden toothpick instead of brush/ball pen to put paint on. My main goal was to protect chip areas from moisture first (I did not see any metal, so I assume some original paint was still there).

Second step will be leveling paint in chip areas making it look good. I'm debating LANGKA blob eliminator vs some other tools/methods.

I had two chips on my front vendor above the wheel well... I took the car to the dealer to get it checked out... clearly not caused by a rock and appeared the paint fell off ...

They ended up re-painting the section with the clips and can't tell it was done..

I wanted the dealer to see this just in case more show up...

I always have paint chips on my trucks, ORV trails and lots of miles will do that. I just keep some touch up paint handy and prep with a little alcohol.

I do one complete detail on each of my vehicles every spring, which includes a complete polish job with my Portal Cable and Meguiars 100 and 200 polish.
The rest of the year I just wash and detail with a spray wax (Pinnacle Sovereign Wax) or Adams detail spray.
