Painting bumpers and limited fender flares

that looks awesome, man. was planning on doing that on mine next spring. on a side note, I had my truck all covered in blue tape and newspapers in the parking lot at my office yesterday plasti-dipping my gold badges and emblems. It's on a pretty busy intersection so I got plenty of odd looks and stares - pretty comical.

turned out fine. had a little trouble with the emblem on the grill. everything else is perfect. pretty easy to do other than all the damn tape and paper. I have a client that does professional auto painting for a local BMW dealer. He's gonna do all my flairs and bumpers for trade. much easier solution!

Thread Resurrection

Thread resurrection time - has anyone painted their bumpers gunmetal gray? A lot of people do black but I want something different and I'm trying to see if gray would look cool.

I have a white SR5. The bumpers are in good shape but I'm getting tired of polishing them every month to keep the small rust spots off.

Looks good in the pics .... my only recommendation would be to use a different Duplicolor paint next time.

I would have used their Black Wheel Paint (which is a few dollars more expensive but better paint) and topped it with a coat of their clear.

The reasoning is just that (in theory) it should last a bit longer than their std line of paint.

I've just finished mine too.

I used the bedliner for the door sill panel at the bottom and plastidipped the side panels as a practice and a test to see how'd they look.

I probably use the bedliner when I have to re-do them.

I used Rustoleum Soft Iron in their Metallic series. The color turned out great and the only prep I did was sand and clean. I'm heading home from school this weekend and mounting/balancing my LC wheels so when they're on, I'll snap a couple more pictures. I like it a lot more than the original Thundercloud

That came out really good! I have been thinking about taking mine off to paint. I have been thinking about doing a Black Sherwin Williams Jet-Flex with an anti-marring/flattening agent!

The black and red definitely looks better that the original two tone look...
I'm wondering if there's a way to color match the fenders and bumpers to the sunfire red? Or best to just keep them the way they are or hope to find them used?

Got me thinking about blacking out the Topaz LTD flares and cladding on my IJM. I have a bunch of leftover black satin 'Dip from a wheel job a few years back. I know, I know....but it would be reversible. Maybe just one side at first.:bat: Horrors! I know....LOL
