I don't know, am I the only one that likes the idea of "going back to it's roots"?
Mast antenna (motorized even) I think is cool.
4cyl and v6 motors I think would be good too (don't get me wrong, I love my v8 but I'm one of those that doesn't really need it, just likes the smoothness/power). Especially these days of how much power they are getting out of smaller motors, and still good on gas. A v6 would suit me fine (just happened to get a good deal on a v8 currently).
Hell, I'm just bummed that I haven't seen any signs of really digging back and offering a rear tire carrier! Between the tire carrier, locker(s) and returning 2wd to the transfer case for the top motor-(a floor stick lever even) I'd be a happy camper. Maybe they can really deck out the Trail Edition, especially now that it may be available to us canucks.

I wonder if there's a market for full size mask/covers for driving around. Just imagine - you're poor, get laid off, etc, and you're driving around in your old clunker and it needs a paint job and body work bad. Slap on one of these full size disguises, and voila, no more ugly ass ride - in fact, you'd probably get almost as much attention as if you were driving around in a Veyron

I believe more engine choices are good for the new 4Runner.
I do have to wonder if a 4 cylinder 4Runner will have enough power to get out of it's own way and survive on roads in the USA.
Also have to wonder is the new 4Runner with a 6 cylinder will be able to adequately tow 7K pounds of enclosed trailer and just how well it will do it?
Personally I think the 5.7L V8 in the new 4Runner would be serious overkill when it comes to cost, fuel mileage and potential number of units sold.
If Toyota has a big V6 with lots of low end torque for towing or a small V8 with lots of torque that might be better than the big V8.
One has to wonder if a DIESEL engine for the 4Runner would sell more units than a 5.7L V8 would? Yes, fuel prices are down right now from their highs but that will not last throughout the life cycle of the next gen 4Runner. Moving forward Toyota needs to think about how best to improve the fuel economy of the 4Runner while not forgetting about people who use the 4Runner for Towing and how they can best meet the needs of those customers as well.

Unless Toyota puts some Turbocharged 4cyl in its going to be anemic at best. Face it, a 4cyl engine and truck based SUV should never be used in the same sentence together.
I would love a 5.7L 4runner and would buy it in a heartbeat.

A don't see a 4cyl 4runner being about to tow anything of significant weight.

You are not alone. I too have a V8 that I love but do not really need. BRING BACK THE STICK FOR THE TRANSFER CASE.

Agreed, a return to the stick shift transfer case would be awesome!
The problem I have with the GX is the side-hinged door. That's a total deal-killer for me.

And is the V8 really gone? If so, it looks like I'll be keeping my '05 until they get their act together. I absolutely love my V8 and see no reason to step down.

What kind of wheels are those? link to more pix please! Sorry for being off the topic! hmm.. on topic.. I'll add in I think I'll stick to my 2008 4Runner for another generation or two...maybe even three! That's all I'm saying!
P.S. Anyone else notice that the fuel door appears to be on the PASSENGER'S side? My '08 has it on the driver's side! ohhh.. Nevermind! Haha, I just realized it has a slot for a fuel door on both sides... hm, back to bed I go!
