I still cant believe yall are gonna go out there with out a well knowledged trail leader that actually knows the roads out there. If the 6" lift is done in time, I will be out there and most likely in the 6" lifted FJ instead of mine. Ill keep yall informed. If I cant make it, yall are gonna take a huge risk of running into problems or into spots where its off limits. not trying to talk yall down from going out. but its just my 2cents. every 4runner run I've joined in on and was trail leader on, I was the only snorkeled ride and probably the only ride with the scuba mod as well. if I run into something deep, no biggie, but if yall run into something deep on accident cause there are no go arounds (yes there are spots with no go arounds. especially the route I took everyone on the first 4runner run where alex killed his tranny) then yall will be screwed..or atleast the trail leader will be.
Also the spot where drift was talking about going, "across from the Atco Raceway", that spot is soooo HOT with cops. Yall would be idiots to go out there. I know a ton of people who prefer that area for wheeling and they will even tell you the hundreds of dollars they've paid in tickets cause of being caught in that section of the woods. I've never even been to that section cause who wants to pay a ticket or possibly have their truck impounded?
Also, I pretty much know how deep the holes are in Wharton, I can tell you which ones are easy to go through and I can tell you the ones that ive seen F250s on 42s get stuck in. You have to know which way to go in a hole as well. Going through the center is NEVER the best choice. If there is no go around, you have to know how to handle the hole properly, either it be hugging the left or right side of the hole, or trying your best to ride the ridge where the ruts are not at.
All in all, all I'm trying to say is you need to be careful out there and not just plunge head first into the center of a hole. Also, if you don't know where you're going, its easy as hell to get lost in Wharton! I was lost before and its not fun. I ended up on a trail that ISNT on google maps and well, lets just say my black Tacoma looked like I had went through a barb wire fence cause of all the pin stripes from going down a dirtbike/hiking path. Totally a shitty night and almost got stuck in a hole I never encountered before that had NO go around. Yes, almost stuck in a 7" lifted Taco on 35s......
