Pls help me to decide wich car to choose!!!!

I sold my daily drive car. I want a SUV 4 x 4 definitely.

The only thing is that I have a option here and need you to help me decide.

The choice is between a brand new GX470 full loaded but I also consider full loaded Limited 4Runner V8.

Advantages for the GX

- More luxury vehicle
- Lexus is a Lexus
- Smoother ride

Advantages for the 4Runner

- Price is 10k less
- The car is a little faster since it weight less
- New model


So, wich one would you suggest me to choose??

If you have the money, then go for the GX470. It has the same capability as the 4Runner but with more features. If you don't have the money, then go with the 4runner Ltd. 4wd.

From what i have read (not personally tested), the GX is supposed to be quieter due to more sound insulation and laminated windshield. It does have memory seats (something i hate Toyota for leaving it out of all Toyota products). I have always felt that the center stack (radio and navi) is more well-integrated in the GX than 4Runner. Interior is of better quality with better materials. Stereo is also much better. Lexus customer service is beyond reproach.

In addition, IF you are into off-roading, then the GX does have a true transfer case, rather than an electronic dial, and a handbrake.

The GX does have a weird looking transmission stick...looks crooked. And if you like the XREAS system, then you have to go for the 4Runner. The Adaptive suspension on GX is really good at one setting; it too soft in Comfort mode and it is too harsh in Sport mode. Therefore, it is really not very versatile as advertise.

And of course, the infamous rear cargo door (with no separate window opening). Oh my goodness, what the heck was Toyota thinking! I am really confused. I know that elsewhere in the world, the Toyota Prado has the same cargo door. However, in the US, Toyota should know better! I mean...they did design the 4Runner specifically for the US market...so they KNOW what we want. I don't understand.

Again, if you have $$$$$, then go for GX (in spite of cargo door). If you don't want to spend that much, then go for 4Runner.

My opinion.

PS: if you need to justify the price difference, just use the Lexus service area as your FREE lifetime supply of bottled water and snacks! With Toyota, you have a selection of vending machines.

I don't like tough decisions either. That's why I like the SR5 4Runner. At a negotiated price, IMO there is no competition. It's the no-brainer. Once you get into the Limited 4Runner or especially the GX470, you have some serious shopping/decision making to do. Then again, 30K is a lot of money for me. If you have deep pockets, who cares?

The shifter in the 4Runner is placed perfectly. Arm on the ctr console, the shifter is right there in your hand--no reaching. It's a blast to work the V8's 5 speed up and down between 3-4-5.

Good luck. It sounds like you've decided on a ladder frame, which makes shopping a bit easier. Although the- coming in June- VW Tourareg will be worth looking at.
