Just picked up our 2014 Riverside White Water Retro 175 this weekend. We've had our 17' Hi-Lo for 10 years and it was time for a change. We lose 2 mpg due to the height, but this thing is really cool. Amish built-- inside the wood craftsmanship is great.

I towed a Popup for 5 years with a tacoma, bought a 3rd gen and started wheeling it before trading the popup for a Winnebago. Love camping, we camp probably every "other" weekend... Tent camp when the weather is nice, and bring out the Winnebago when it's not nice. Been towing the 4runner for a couple thousand miles now, no problems so far other than a lot of weird looks from other RV's.. lol

I just got my 21.5' trailer, and it towed pretty darn well with my Equal-i-zer hitch. I personally wouldn't really go any/much longer than that though. But if toy search around a bit, you'll see there are folks pulling longer.

Try going to Google (regular Google search) and put in "site:toyota-4runner.org" and then enter the search terms you want to find. Seems to just work much better for me.

The problem is panic stops with the shorter wheelbase. As long as you have good trailer brakes, you are mostly ok. Seen a BUNCH of rolled threads tied to a 4runner panic stopping while towing. That V8 drivetrain can handle a lot!

I don't know if I've seen any threads of rolled 4Runners out there, but I'm not saying they don't exist. And I don't disagree with your comments.

I have a P3 controller and recommend it or the Prodigy P2 controller very highly!

wouldn't you know it, now that I am looking for one of those threads I can't find them. As I recall, they were panic stops and the trailer had zero brakes so they jackknifed and ended up rolling. I have seen several where they are parting out the old truck.. I have also seen a few 3rd gens pulling fairly large trailers (25') and couldn't believe my eyes.. I had one pull up next to me at the "dump" and he said "it isn't pretty or fast but gets the job done just fine"..

crazy, no idea how long you could do it without problems.. I even saw an FJ towing a 25-28' Travel Trailer.. I guess I am a wus, when the trailer weighs more than the truck I get a little scared... lol
